I was looking at the comments on that wall street article. They are a wide range of opinions there, But this one is... Intresting...
"It's bad enough that grown men watch this show, it's even worse that they have no shame about their childish fixation and go so far as to join clubs, go to conventions, and allow major newspapers to quote them using their real names. I realize that some people feel overwhelmed by the modern world and so retreat into childish pastimes, and that the innocence of a children's cartoon show might appeal to such a person, but at least have the strength of character to recognize this as a personal flaw. I can only imagine how many younger brothers, nieces, etc. there are out there who are absolutely disgusted seeing their older relatives being obsessed with this stuff. Make no mistake, these guys know what they do is shameful, that's why they're so quick to circle the wagons and lash out at anyone who points out what they know to be true."
Wow... The majority of comments are positive (or at least neutral) though, Don't worry. This one was just special. A better comment is this one.
"I'm reading the comment thread accompanying this article, and seeing the usual tired comments about 'kids these days' 'sex fetishists' etc. You're obviously not seeing what I see. You're reading this article and seeing a story about a bunch of adults going crazy over a kid's show. I'm reading this article and seeing a story about community organizers, an event planner who in less than three months and with almost zero budget put together an event that attracted 300 people from around the world, and the webmaster of a site that generates over 200, 000 hits A DAY of web traffic. Make fun of these people? Insult them? I want to know where I can HIRE them!"
I like him.
