Okay, we accept that rain is made by the pegasi in Equestria, yet I still consider it to be "rain" and have all the properties of real world rain other than being made by pegasi rather than the ater cycle. Do you guys think differently?

And again, however small their sun is, Celestia's still moving it faster than sound if she's making it travel round the world every day.

Discord shows that this isn't the case, but assuming it is whenever he's not around, Celestia's still moving a ridiculously large object faster than sound.

if you really want hilariously bad cooperation, then you should watch the Freelance Astronauts play new super mario bros. Infact, you should watch everything they do. The Freelance astronauts are seriously my favorite LP troupe ever. shame they kinda broke up.

That's fine. I'm happy to do that. As I said, it's double standards which is the main thing which makes me take this so seriously. Statements like "Humans could curbstomp ponies". No. Either you decide that the universes are too different to make that decision or you recognise that the show lets them do things far beyond human ability.

Lauren Faust once said they try not to hammer logic too hard in the show back when she was still in charge, and so I think its best we don't to think too hard either. The truth is this isn't a long running comic book, anime, or novel series with tons of hard rules with how the universe works. Its not realistic in the slightest. Its a fun and silly cartoon with the occasional heavier plot that delves into the mythology, and that's it.

Celestia moves the sun. How? Magic. It doesn't really matter how she does it or the science involved in making it happen because this isn't a hard sci-fi series where physics matter, except Cartoon Physics.

And that's all I really have to say about that. Its just a silly cartoon about ponies and FRIENDSHIP that we all enjoy.

Someone brought up the character pages a while back, and why we have several separate pages. Loads and Loads of Characters and Trope Overdosed are part of the reason, but I think it helps to understand the Characters page was split when all the subpages got hit real hard with vandalism during the first season break. What were folders became pages. We finally got around to rehauling and reorganizing the pages (we used to have a "Celebronies" page, which was ill-defined and axed in favor of a page for characters that only appear in one or two episodes).

We also seem to have more people who contribute to pony pages than other, bigger shows, and not all of contributors post in this thread. There's me, Whatshisgame, Dragon Ranger, and...who else is a regular Wiki Curator that posts here? Or am I just not checking the history pages enough?

The Mane Cast all having their own pages is a tad extreme, but if there's enough tropes... the only other character that has a page to themselves I can think of is Commander Shepard. Technically also The Doctor, but there's a reason for that.

I'm still wondering how Background Ponies page got to where it is, and that's probably the character section I've contributed the most to!

We do have a problem with trope shoehorning/misuse when it comes to pony pages, but there is a reason we have a bunch of character pages. Its just one of those shows.

I would imagine that the commenter was taking a course in animal husbandry.

That reminds me. I need to figure out whether it's feasible to do on an actual Game Boy some day. I do have an old Game Boy Color with Pokemon Yellow sitting around at home.

Overthinking is part of my way of enjoying fiction. Determing the language structure of Gnomish and analysing Elven culture is just how I do things and I enjoy those works more because of it. Is that wrong?

I have nothing against overthinking fiction as long it's fun and it's not used to complain about that fiction.

Of course it's not wrong. It's just that a lot of the time's the creators of a setting will not have put nearly as much thought into it as that. In fact in the case of this show they explicitly stated that they like to come up with these things on the fly. To many people it just makes that sort of thought pointless since there will never be definitively answered, not because of intended ambiguity, but lack of concern for that portion of the setting.
