Pretty sure he beat up a genie at one point, which would mean he's pretty powerful.

Didn't know that. How powerful was the genie? Would it's poers have been useful? Did it get te oppertunity to use them? These are all important questions. "Beating up a genie" doesn't tell me much. It's like "beating up a god". Depending on the universe, gods can be anything fromomnipotant to barely sentient (not sapient, sentient) gods of individual grains of rice an armless infant could crush.

EDIT: The most powerful individuals in fiction get utterly ludicrous. Until you're a multiversal reality warper, you aren't anywhere near the top.

The lyrics are distressingly suitable for Chrysalis.

[up][up]It was the genie from Aladdin (the story, not the movie), so I'd say it was pretty powerful. I could be completely wrong, since it's been ages since I've actually seen the cartoon in question.

your logic(or lack thereof) is driving Celestia to drugs

@Sereg: Well, obviously you can assume minor stuff within reason; i.e. the thing called a cake looks like a cake, and is treated exactly like a cake would be. My point is that we can't extrapolate stuff like physics from Real World information because it's obvious that in Equestria it doesn't work the same way.

As for the other argument, yeah, it was a bit confusing. My point is that as I understand it, your argument about Celestia being super-powered relies on the assumption that the Equestrian sun is the same as our own, which I don't see any basis for.

Popeye is the most powerful character in the multiverse. He just needs spinach and he makes reality his bitch and insta wins any fight.

Technically, there are more powerful characters out there. They just have to stop Popeye from getting spinach and then stall for 30 minutes so the episode ends.

My point is that we can't extrapolate stuff like physics from Real World information because it's obvious that in Equestria it doesn't work the same way.

And my point is that the only disgreement we're having is what's "within reason" and how obvous it is that things don't ork that way in Equestria.

As for the other argument, yeah, it was a bit confusing. My point is that as I understand it, your argument about Celestia being super-powered relies on the assumption that the Equestrian sun is the same as our own, which I don't see any basis for.

And this is hat it comes down to. I'm assuming that they mean hat I understand by "sun" when they say "sun" just like e're assuming that it's our understanding of "cake" when they say "cake" because I wouldn't call a big ball of fire a "sun". Not to mention that I can't think of a size small enough that wouldn't require Celestia to be ridiculously strong and fast. She'd have to be faster than sound even if the sun was rolling along the ground.

I condiser it basically Like America Unless Otherwise Noted. But the sun and moon thing is a pretty clear otherwise noted. We don't know how they work but we do know they work differently.

@Sereg: There's an obvious difference in how they treat the two things though. The cake, in all respects, appears identically to real cake, whereas the sun acts very different than the real sun. Literally one of the first things we find out about the setting is that ponies maniuplate the sun directly. To me, that pretty much says "Real world astronomy does not a apply here". Like Reality Unless Noted is in effect, obviously, but the first thing the show notes is that astronomy is different. Cakes aren't noted as different, so I assume they're the same. The sun? Definitely noted as different.

EDIT: and ninja'd.
