It kind of is. So a guy named Michael Curran a visually impaired person himself, was tired of the high costs so he decided to make his own. He took classes on coding, even though he'd never done it before, and built the thing in 4 months including licensing it as freeware so anyone could make modifications to it.

Well guide animals are expensive and take a while to train, so a realtively small proportion of people get them. But I don't know about Dark's circumstances.

Coincidently, ponies are also used as guide animals, though much less commonly than dogs.

As Google Captions have shown us, decent voice-recog to operate a computer blind is still a bit on the bleeding edge.

Something to read text for you has little reason to be that obscenely expensive though. I mean a really good one that sounds particularly natural will, but a Microsoft Sam style one with access to a well-kept phonics set isn't so bad as far as parsers go.

I am orientally impaired. Don't know much about Japan or the language, and I have to resort to the trope pages to not feel left out when chatting with my friends and having One Piece or Bleach come up.

Will the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic comic series be release in Japan?

@Japanese language: I know basic Japanese from having studied in college and also from frequently not only watching anime (some of it in raw Japanese) and I even can read things/play video games if they are aimed at children/teenagers (basically anything that at least puts the furigana over the tops of the kanji). I'm probably better at comprehending it than speaking it, though. I'm definitely curious about the Japanese pony dub coming up and probably would at least try watching it with no subtitles, especially since I already know the basic stories of the episodes anyway. I like the voices I've heard for the characters so far, too, and Pinkie's sounds very accurate aside from the odd audio quality of the clip that has her speaking in it.

I don't think there's any word on that yet. Does anyone know how common it is for comics to get translated into Japanese? I feel like it's sort of rare.

If we're lucky we might get an influx of pony manga or doujin.

I know a smidgen of Japanese from anime, here and video games. My anime experience is very limited, though in the past year or so, it's much greater compared to what it once was, thanks to watching a few shows on Anime Network on Demand (Himawari!"', Croisee in a Foreign Labyrint'', to name a couple.)

But a fan made manga of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic could be full of adult content. You know stuff like hentai.

Pffft. This is the internet. Rule34 and whatnot. Heck, I'm pretty sure there's already pornographic doujins out there.

And yeah, the fact that Princess Celestia seems be used as her name is amusing. Maybe they think that "Princess" is Celestia and Luna's family name or something.

Those are still expensive, expirimental, and not very good.

Not all doujin is adult. Just the stuff that gets translated into english.

I've both worksafe and nsfw Japanese pony doujinshi. (Linked to them before in the depths of this thread, lol)

Retinas are part of the problem, they're very weak and have collapsed on me 4 times in both eyes. But the problem is the Cataracts. They weren't treated when first diagnosed and they've grown so thick that my eyes have been slightly stretched and warped so that there's 90% chance of collapsing if taken out. As well as a few other problems such as my left eye being stabbed with a stick. Sorry, probably didn't need the Squick or my whole situation, but there it is.

But yeah, it'd be cool to have a guide pony.

There is one good thing about the JPN Dub: They aren't doing it like the JPN Beast Wars gagdub, also their seiyuu are better than the ones in the Chinese dub.
