I'm okay with darker elements as long as it makes the story better. Violence, murder, etc. for the sake of themselves are pointless, though. Violence to show just how serious the conflict has become? Sure.

I take a similar philosophy when I'm writing. I think long and hard if the element is actually needed if it's outside the show's normal boundaries. In the end, if it will improve the story, I'll do it. The girls are tough and I refuse to hold back if it means insulting them with a story that's not at its full potential (or at least, full potential as limited by my current writing skills).

I was thinking about writing a fan fic that involves ponies piloting ponified versions of humongous mecha, it's mostly light-hearted like the show most of the time.

I don't like metal. Especially that growling stuff like Cannibal Corpse.

The only kind of music I really like is Weird Al, but lately I seem to have acquired a taste for metal. I've been listening to "Nightmare Revisited", which is a CD of "Nightmare before Halloween" metal covers.

Speaking of Weird Al, does anyone think he's going to be a guest VA this season? He was offered the job, apparently, and he's a brony. I can totally see him being Pinkie Pie's uncle who exterminates parasprites.

Yeah, I believe there's no reason for Cupcakes to exist. There's no reason for any dark fan material to exist.

Maybe I'll read something edgy if the other factors of a decent story don't suck. But its complete garbage when its just grimdark and depressing for the sake of being that. Just canon defilement at its worst.
