It's the optimism of the WORLD that I like as well. Equestria just seems like a wonderful place to live in spite of all the crap that goes on there.

I'm not trying to defend crap like say Cupcakes but I don't mind it if it starts grimdark and they try to revive equastria or something like that.

Hold on then, some of them keep that hope. Have you Read Book of Friendship? It's dark as all else, but there's always an underlying sense of hope with it.

Some of them are bad. Some of them are really bad, and insulting to the show. But some of them are good. Sturgeon's Law people. !0% of any genre is godly.

The thing I hate most about the fandom is all the fics that make murders out of the cast, and have them die or suffer in heart rendingly pointless situations.

This is Equestria. It's a happy place. Even when there's danger. Keep it that way.

It's easy to do too. I mean Chirst, I'm trying my dam hardest to make a fic about war and kidnapping as happy and innocent as the show itself!

Melon Catapults for instance.

RS: Core theme of the music is Twilight's Sonata, a fairly old piece of fan music (it's one of the first to get me into fan music for a while, so I picked it out fairly quickly, hehe). There is a riff from Gala in there too, though.

Being a female fan of the series, I was wondering if the term "bronies" is gender-neutral or if it just refers to the male fans. If it's the latter, would a term like "filly fans" or "mare fans" be a good one for the female fans like me?

Agreed so much on the dislike of grimdark fics. The only one I'll read is Fallout Equestria, and that was just because I really like Fallout. Ponies should keep all their marshmallow bits intact. I agree with kegisak that some darkfics can be really good (see: Fallout Equestria) but for the most part I'd rather not get depressed when reading about ponies.

"Bronies" originally meant male fans, but it's now widely used by fans of both sexes who are older than the show's primary demographic (young girls).

it's optional, some use Brony for any adult that likes the show, some sepearte it into brony for guys, Pegsister for girls.

And I also don't like the grimdark fanfic's to much, some are good and well written no doubt, (not a big fan of the shipping ones either) the ones I love most are the comedy ones, those always have me laughing my flank off.

Build a fool proof system, and the world will create a better fool.

I consider brony gender neutral, but it's always good to have gender specific terms for clarity of speech.

I use bronette because it has a nice ring to it.
