This would make a great episode premise, seeing the mane girls before they really became friends.

If you have a nosebleed, what I'd do is use a washcloth to block it off until it goes away. You can also lie down on the floor (face up obviously) to help stop the bleeding.

I remembering wearing a red shirt and not noticing.

Until I wiped my nose and I was covered in blood.

Luckily, it was at the time I stopped being so scared of blood.

That would certainly be an interesting idea, sort of Cutie Mark Chronicles ish, only older and without the cheesy moral at the end.

How cheesy was the moral of Cutie Mark Chronicles?

You could make 3 all-cheese pizzas with it.

Like before they knew they were superweapons, and they had to defeat a threat the old fashioned way.

They attempt to reason, before Dash says: "Fuck it, watch this!" and flies straight through the enemy, cutting it in half.

Even Scootaloo and Spike lampshaded it. Still, it's my favorite episode of season 1.

Probably because of all the narration. grin

Seriously though, it does suck not being able to see what's going on. Pretty much why if I ever wrote a fic, i would have to set it outside Ponyville to avoid errors in the scenery and description.

There's also the fact that just about everything's been done already. The Mane Six have been imagined in any number of situations from shipping in every combo to setting. All the good ideas are seemingly already taken and long since exhausted of possibility.

I'm not quite following your train of thought here, dark. Are you talking about writing fanfiction in general?

Both, really. If just about every fanfic plot and setting has already been thought up, then what's the point? Equestria Daily takes about 30 fics a week at minimum, and these are supposedly the best. If I can't even know what the basic locations and ponies look like, then how can I write anything decent? I'll be swarmed by accusations of sloppy writing and not even watching the show. I don't want to sound like an emo teenager, but what can I write that hasn't been done better already?

Luckily, it was at the time I stopped being so scared of blood.

I remember one time I played soccer in sandals. Afterwards, I looked down, and my big toe was covered in blood.

@Dark: You'd be surprised. A lot of stories are good by virtue of how they handle the material rather than what the premise is. Yeah, pretty much every premise has been done in some way, but there are always ways to add to it. Nine times out of ten, execution trumps concept.

Also, there's that famous old adage: write what you know. Maybe you could write something from the POV of a pony who has difficulty seeing; that way the difficulties in describing the setting could be an asset to the story because you know firsthand what that's like. I'm guessing their aren't a lot of writers out there with firsthand experience of that, and I'm sure there are people out there who would find it interesting to have a story that focuses entirely on sensations other than visual description.

Seriously, I think it would be pretty interesting. Like a new pony moves into town and meets the cast, and describes them in terms of voice, smell, etc. It would be interesting to have the characters described from a different angle.

You could even have a sarcastic moment where the character tries to guess Pinkie Pie's colour. "Clearly, she's green."
