There's also a neat Spike dog pic that's rumoured to be in Equestria Girls.

But it doesn't match the art style and IIRC, it originated on deviantART. I think it's safe to say that it's just a rumor unless actual evidence turns up.

That one is just a rumor, and an unlikely one. The pic everyone is using as proof showed up on an art blog weeks ago, and is just now being noticed, no one ever mentioned it was official.

Poor guy's had it hard enough in the cartoon as it is. And after Just for Sidekicks, I really really hope he gets a break in season 4. That was just sad rather than funny IMHO.

How is My Little, the epic tale of Spike and his adventures in the peaceful town of Ville, coming along?

All right. It's a bigger challenge than I expected, but that's okay and that should ease up as he starts interacting with the other characters. He's met Matilda now and he's received a letter which I have now written.

Why would they even? Fanart is the kind of stuff that fuels a fanbase. It's almost like saying "You want to be enthusiastic about our stuff? STOP THAT."

Anne Mc Caffrey kinda killed the Pern universe for me when she had her lawyers C&D a roleplaying community I was in that was based on her books.

She basically didn't want anyone playing in her world.

Yeah, while Brian Jacques (God bless his soul) never approved a video game he was more than willing to allow Terrouge, Conqueror's Quest, and other roleplaying stuff. I'm planning out an original work right now and I'll allow fanfiction, fan art, hell I'll allow a tabletop RPG as long as they ask my permission.

yeah it's official, and a separate piece of art with a more anthro style was released

Wouldn't it be less anthro, since it has more animal features han the previous one, which was 100% human, aside from skin tone?

No it would be more anthro. Since it has more equine like features, moving it further from human. After they pass a point where they are about 50% human/Equine mix then they would be becoming less anthro by adding more Equine stuff.
