Why does there have to be so many grim dark fics? Some are good, but most are laughable in quality, and not in a comedic way either.

Well, some fics are called grimdark when they're really just dark. And some are full of fgorn, whih doesn't interest me. I have read an actual grimdark fic though which didn't contain any gorn and I really enjoyed it. All gore was reffered to in a fairly off-hand manner so it wasn't off-putting at all. I'm putting the name of the fic behind spoiler tags though because the fact that itis grimdark and not just dark is a spoiler. The Heart Thief.

@Seraphem Not accounting for personal taste, yeah. Taking that into account, any given person is probably not going to enjoy at least half of the fics that are deemed "okay", likely even less.

I think I'm pickier about fanfics than a lot of people here. For example, I found Crisis Equestria to be mediocre.

Yeah, it's basically 10% are technically decent, but typically only half of those are going to actually appeal to any given person. Some people will like more of them, some people will like way less.

@Seraphem: The exact percentages are really kinda iffy. Unless we want to do a survey of all fanfic ever we're never going to know whether it's 10% or 5% or whatever.
