I was going to say that it's because she's white, but they changed the skin colors of everyone else.

Yeah, it's always kind of... I guess creepy when artists give all the other characters human skin tones and keep Rarity literally paper-white.

Especially since of all of them, I could totally see her going to a tanning salon.

Rarity of the parasol in a tanning booth?

Human Rarity definitely would use a tanning salon.

Spray on tan...uh oh...

[up][up]Yeah, I don't get it either. I guess there's a difference between doing it in a controlled environment and the possibility of getting sunburn. It makes some sense. She uses the booth to get just the right degree of tan, and then uses the parasol to keep from getting too dark.

Sombra may have been killed off for good... but does that mean someone cant make an artifact out of the horn of his that went flying off into the sunset and use it for no-goodness?
You know it'll be Trixie, come back to declare once again, "I HAVE THE POWER OF A THOUSAND SUNS!"
And Applejack is here too!

You know it'll be Trixie

I'd like to thing that Trixie learned to stay away from magic enhancers after that whole "gets corrupted by the Alicorn Amulet" thing.

Tanning makes no sense to me. But of course, I have a thing for Raven Hair, Ivory Skin.

@ Sereg

I see that more as Twilights thing...unless she's dark skinned.

@Sereg: I'm with you on that for Rarity, yeah. I can't really see her as very tan at all.

...oh shit, we're edging into a racial discussion again, aren't we.

It's really hard to say...on the one hand, she's like an 18th century Lady...on the other hand, she's also like a modern day model/fashion designer...

I don't tan. I burn, then peel.

Same here, Syd. I'm so Irish I'm fond of saying that I'll burn under lamplight.

Yeah, I don't tan well either XD I do remember going to Seaworld once and keeping my shirt and whatnot on all day and I ended up not getting burnt XD
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.

Yeah, actually, I wasn't talking about the ponies but real life there. I consider tanning to be stupid due to the fact that I don't find tanned skin attractive (plus, you know, sunburn (which I get rather easily) and skin cancer)

A south African who sunburn easily... that must Suck pretty hard. I sunburn pretty bad myself - being a Scott and all - but the burn fade into a tan... which then fades back to pale in like, a week.

But yeah, I also don't really get the appeal of it. At least not like, excessive tanning. The tanning from actually being out in the sun naturally isn't half bad, although there is a place in my heart for the spectraly pale.

Put me in the "doesn't tan, just burns" camp. Eastern European heritage will do that. And I'm with Sereg on the preferring Raven Hair, Ivory Skin to tans. I just figured Rarity would be the tanning type because in a lot of places a moderate tan is considered attractive, and she's the type to be concerned about her appearance in that way. Even though I'd probably prefer her if she was paler.

Although I also agree that Twilight probably fits the Raven Hair, Ivory Skin type the best; she probably spends more time inside than any of the other ponies. AJ and RD spend most of their time outside, so they'd obviously be tanned. Fluttershy spends a decent amount of time out with animals, so she'd have a tan too, if not as much. Pinkie... I have no idea.

Raven Hair, Ivory Skin types are nice...Pinkie might be 'pasty' though...although I can see her as rosy cheeked.

Now I can't decide whether Princess Celestia or the Saddle Arabians resemble Generation 2 My Little Ponies more.

I sometimes find [loser everyman protagonists] hard to relate to ironically enough.

It's because they typically lack any defining characteristics whatsoever other than being a generic loser to a degree that few people can actually relate to, and that those few don't really want to.

Characters with actual personalities, even highly exaggerated, at least reflect some kind of person you probably know.

One thing that surprised me about Psychonauts is how Raz actually showed a personality, kissing people's brains, doing that weird hand gesture when he beats the wrestlers, etc.
