I fully accept the fact that MLP is a toy commercial. A REALLY AWESOME toy commercial.

Hasbro didn't make it that way though, they just wanted to make a toy commercial.

Its the writers and crew that made it awesome.

Maybe this is a reason to be happy about the Equestrian Girls thing. Hasbro can focus all their need to interfere on that show, and leave ours alone.

Like that Simpsons bit where Marge makes a second cake since she knows Homer is going to mess up one of them.

The whole Toy Commercial thing doesn't really bother me much.

I mean, any show is trying to sell you something. It's just that they're usually only trying to sell the show.

When I go back and watch the 80's cartoons I used to love it is so obvious they were just trying to get you to buy toys.

I don't get that from MLP at all... the writers hide it well

I like to think that these days Hasbro, at least in regards to its larger franchises like Transformers and MLP, makes sure there's a likeable universe to go along with the toys they're trying to sell. They're also pushing to make sure there are toys of things that are in their shows, its part of what their investor meeting at the Toy Fair was about.

Making toys of a character that's being removed from the cartoon seems counter-productive to this particular business strategy.

I did see the new mini figures with like the Manticore and Steven Magnet... I want that too..

And the show accurate plush. Those are nice but I'm trying to make my own.

Im still working on digitizing the cutie mark for the Bat-Pony. Im using a combination of the Sign for the ~~planet~~ dwarf planet Pluto... and the eye that is on their armor.

Interesting that they'd planned out the finale since mid 2011. Hasbro probably thought it would be perfect as a toy and actually tied it into the show. Or it could also be that the writers were Genre Savvy about it and pitched an idea the executives would love.

I like to think that all the major toyline stuff like Princess Cadance and the Crystal Empire are in fact pitched by the writers. Its just the toyline side of the company... misinterprets the pitches from time to time.
