I thought the time travel spell was a one shot thing though... unless that was Jossed by the recent episode that I still haven't seen ^_^;;
There could always be other time travel spells.

@Turtle: Nah, it's one-use-only. He still obviously wrote it down for others to use, though.
Won't be online for a while due to the holidays. Stay safe, happy and warm!
Everyone will remember Star Swirl in the same way people remember Fermat.

I feel compelled to point out in Star Swirl's defense that just because he didn't understand the elements as well as Twilight doesn't mean he was Forever Alone or anything. He could easily have had his own circle of friends, but he just never realized how important it was.

Pierre de Fermat. A lawyer/mathemetician who is best knwon for his Last Theorem. An unfinished mathematical theorem that remained unproven, one way or the other, for ages, until 1995.

@Syd: Aaaaaand there goes my money.
I already have a crapton of student loans. Like that's gonna stop me. I have been waiting since season one for decently priced show accurate plushies.
Meh... I'm still going to make my own now that I have the embroidery machine.
You guys haven't heard of Fermat? Come on! That's one of the easy ones. It's not like asking about Eisenstein or Borel or Galois or whatever.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
It's a good parallel to this episode, too. Completing Star Swirl's Unfinished Spell is like solving Fermat's Last Theorem.

Wait, solving math equations gives you immortality and godlike magical powers? Damn, I picked the wrong major.
