@Perpetual: To a degree, yeah, but we only got the tip of the iceberg. I'd have loved to see a full episode of the town trying to function with the 5 ponies screwed up before Twilight figures out how to fix the problem.

I'm going to say that it was great, based on the emotions it garnered in me.

I am dreading the drought, and all the complaints...but at least more pony is on the way eventually. And we have the comics to bid us over in the meantime.

Twilight is a Princess now. They can't honestly expect her to run a country and still get into silly slice of life trouble, can they?!

I don't see why not. Besides, it's not likely she's going to be running a country. Remember Cadance? She was a princess and she didn't seem to be ruling anything until the Crystal Empire returned. I would expect there is a sort of training period where a new princess is given lighter tasks until they've shown they're ready for greater responsibilities.

And Twilight was already pretty much Celestia's Problem Solver, the person she called on when a dragon invaded the kingdom or whatever. She got in slice of life plots then, she can do so now.

The episode itself was good. I just don't want the fun to end...I suppose it was inevitable, but I don't want to say I don't like it because I'll just be called out for my opinion.

What Celestia said is very interesting. She's implying that although she's inexperienced as a princess, she became one in a way no one ever did and that she has potential to be even greater than Celestia and Luna, in lack of a better word.

Now that the season is over, I am going to start my Lent (yes, I compromised, throw your judgements if you wish).

I won't be back here or any pony related things for 40 days (going to do some overtime after Maundy Thursday).

I'd have to agree about the way the episode wrung emotions from my cynical shell of a heart.

While watching, I could feel a smile on my face.

The episode was delightful.

And again Princess in Equestria =/= normal idea of "princess"

Megan already went into detail that they are developing a completely new mythos and ideas as to what "princess" means in Equestria. It's not just "ruler" and even if, I'd hardly think Celestia would just toss Twi into that, but rather slowly ease her into it. And definitely wouldn't separate her from her friends

Y'know what would have been awesome though? If they had simply based all of the previews and promotionals around the cutie mark swap plot, and left Twilight's ascension completely unspoiled.

It would have been fun hearing everyone freak out about it instead of it being something everyone has known was coming for weeks now.

And yup, most of the EQD comments are "AWESOME" "Trust the writers, they delivered" a few "good but rushed" and the expected "Twilacorn is crap wa wa wa wa" people but they are fairly small minority

I predict that they will remain the minority. I'll do my best to ignore these neighsayers.

Oh, and Applelight? Get to work on that comic of yours. We're all counting on you to entermatain us. No pressure at all.

Ok, could someone break down what happened in the end? I gather the elements burned away her original body and recreated it as an Alicorn? So where were she and Celestia then?

They were in The Flow, the ocean of all magic in the universe. Twilight shed her body and became a creature of pure magic - literally, magic without end. Celestia had to help her to reform a new body with stray particles in the atmosphere.
