Well I'm not gonna complain about more content. If it sucks, oh well, I'll just not watch it. Season 4 is still a thing.

I'm way more sad about the C&D against Fighting is Magic. That was by far the most interesting thing (to me personally) to come out of the entire fandom. I knew people who didn't even like the show that were looking forward to it.

Anyway, while humanizing the characters definitely takes away from some of the uniqueness of the setting, it's not a deal breaker. I'm certainly willing to give it a try at least. It seems a bit bizarre that people are up in arms over this, considering humanized alternate universes have been a common thing in the fandom for years now. It seems a bit strange to get mad just because it's official and not a fan work.

Personally, I don't care. People greatly overestimate the amount of impact Lauren had on this show. She was definitely a big part of its original development, but it's been going on for nearly 2 years now without her. And I'm not really a fan of Lauren anyway, I can't stand the way she draws human characters.

Hm, what roles would the other characters have in a High School AU (human or otherwise?). Time Turner as a science teacher? Lyra, Octavia, and Vinyl in marching band or Glee club? Oh, I've got it!

See I'm hoping that they'll take a Recess like approach and spoof the standard cliches of the genre. The other thing is that the cast dynamics could actually lend themselves quite well to including the themes of the show. I mean, the whole idea is that people with different interests and personalities can get along, and what better way to do that than by taking a clique-heavy setting and showing those cliques getting broken up?

See, that would work. My biggest concern with this idea is that it would be a typical high school show, which at this point are all pretty derivative of each other. If they at least do something interesting with the idea it would be worth seeing.

Yeah, that's pretty much the main reason I'm actually willing to give this a shot. If it's the same crew that makes the main show, they should be able to make something decent out of it.

Do note that those are licensed by Funko, so they're not directly from Hasbro, and there's some asterisks there stating that names are not final. I doubt "Derpy" will be on the final product.

I, I really can't stay hateful of Hasbro as a whole. They ARE fairly good, and we ARE getting tons of stuff from them, But I will hate their legal department with the intensity of a thousand haters.

@Perpetual: Non-Hasbro made licensed stuff can still use the name; case in point, the We Love Fine T-shirts still use "Derpy", if memory serves.

Also, crap I'm going to have to rebudget with all the new toys coming out. I've been waiting for a Chrysalis, and the fact that the pack appears to include a regular size Derpy is a bonus.

Oh the Japanese media are going to be all over this if they ever start dubbing the high school movie. Now let's see: Rainbow would be some sort of athlete, maybe soccer or track? Twilight would make the perfect studious student. Pinkie would be one hell of an energetic schoolgirl, most likely a dangerously upbeat cheerleader. I've got nothing for Applejack. I could easily see Rarity as a student body president trying to glamerize the schoolthrough any means possible.
