I've got an awful lot of Christmas Beetles (a kind of scarab - Not too difficult to see where my callsign comes from ) in my house, and there's a voyeur jumping spider I don't mind the presence of in the bathroom.

Thread hop, what's going on?

Regarding the toys, a couple things:

A.) Yes, the plan is to tie the toys much more in with the show. I know at least one person who is disappointed about this (for reasons of his own I won't go into), but on the whole this is good. It generally means stronger sales, and I know that I prefer toys that actually look more like the characters and match up more with the show. I have seen Pony merchandise at Odd Lots, but only the small figure sets that they manufactured en masse of just about every character, and even those eventually sell.
B.) Toy sales always drop off somewhat once the Christmas holiday season is over. It's inevitable. Trust me, Pony sales were huge during the last holiday season.
C.) A number of new toys / exclusives are coming out or have recently come out and those are going like hotcakes. Fluttershy recently came out for the first time as an official plush, in sizes from 5" to as large as 20", and those are selling like hotcakes.

@JM: Pony selling well? YA RLY. It was literally impossible for me to find pony stock on the shelves of TRU the few days after Christmas before the first shipments of 2013 showed up - Sales drop may well have been an artifact of the yet-to-replenish low stock levels post-Christmas (incidentally it's also why I was only able to snag the Zecora/Lotus and Applebloom/Diamond Tiara minifig packs this previous weekend, due to a dearth of stock on the shelves!)

Not at all. This is definitely a multiple-media phenomenon in terms of types of viewing.

Hasbro need only aggregate the views from posted episode streams on Youtube I heard they've opened a paid channel on Youtube with official streams of Season One at least.

Oh, and about the toys, U.S. tax season is here and refunds will be flowing in soon, and with those, I bet some people will be thinking "Pony."

If Hasbro really wants to see how big the fandom is, they should region-unlock their official uploads of Season One and set very reasonable prices :D The statistics will tell you everything.

If the toys actually looked like how ponies looked like in the show, I would consider buying.

They could also offer an official livestream of new episodes and watch the ratings that way.

I've got several of the McDonald's toys, which are pretty accurate.

Speaking of, it's kind of odd: McDonald's didn't make another batch of Pony toys for Season three. They did for both one and two... I wonder why not.

Maybe they're waiting for the big three-parter?
