Yeah, any of "X you won't believe aren't photoshopped" things are usually really interesting.

Also, I'm no fan of Dragon Quest either, but I'm not sure what the issue is with Peewee in particular.

@Bluespade: Brony hate tends to be some of the most passionate, and therefore most vile, hate on the Internet.

An article which subliminally encourages something like that stopped waaay before it crossed that second line.

Peewee was homeless. His parents were heavily implied to have been killed and eaten. He literally had nowhere else to go, so Spike took him in. Are we honestly expected to believe that Spike would just give him up so easily after everything he did to save his life?
Shamelessly plugging my comics, Oh yes.

That and it broke the cardinal rules of Cracked articles... it wasn't funny.

There was an article up yesterday about people related to horrible famous people, like Hitler and Stalin. It was atrociously written and not funny in the slightest, but I haven't heard any outrage about it.

I mostly enjoy Cracked for the really strange and fascinating bits of history and culture they dig up from around the world, so even if an article isn't funny I often enjoy it. To people who aren't aware of the whole Brony thing, his article could have been the same sort of thing: the revelation of a strange and interesting subculture that people weren't aware of. Of course it was badly written, so it didn't come across that interesting.

How were the parents implied to have been killed? They thoroughly trounced the dragons in that episode.

Garble and his goons were burning the forest to the ground, stealing Phoenix eggs and killing any Phoenix that go in their way, remember?

No they weren't. The adolescent dragons tried to steal an egg, the adult Phoenixes used their power and scared them off. Then they fled the nest. It's not too hard to believe that they either came back or Spike and Twilight tracked them down at their new nest.

Twilight has a spell in her library for literally every occasion, including a "solve all problems" spell (season 2 episode 1). Why is it hard to believe she could find Peewee's parents?

I liked Dragon Quest btw.

Garble and his goons were burning the forest to the ground, stealing Phoenix eggs and killing any Phoenix that go in their way, remember?

You and I remember Dragon Quest very differently.

[down] Lately I've been enjoying the short ones the most, oddly enough.

@Bluespade: That's the issue I have with the new Quick Fixes (of which the pony article was one).

They can be written by almost anybody, and as we know, something accessible by anybody is placed firmly in the sweaty palms of Sturgeon's Law. The columnists have to be experienced before writing long pieces, which is why the long-form articles tend to be much, much better.

[up][up][up]I thought they were just stealing eggs to smash for a giggle. I don't really get why a lot of fans depict the dragons as high level monsters, they were nasty thugs, but very petty ineffectual ones.

@Some Guy They tried to smash one phoenix nest and then were defeated rather easily, and they never once tried to burn anything down. I'm not sure what episode you're remembering.

Yeah, Peewee's parents were fine. There was no indication that they were in trouble.

@Some New Guy: Are you sure you aren't remembering one of Steve's retellings or something?

@Blue: That's largely because most people didn't really care about the subject matter much.

[up][up][up]Yeah, it was the Dragon equivalent of Cow Tipping.

I should probably get back to watching this episode.

@Japanese Teeth: Eeeegsactleh.

People vaguely related to somewhat nastier people? Not controversial. A fandom famed for the amount of bigoted bile it gets sprayed with daily? Thin bloody ice.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't Spike and Rarity the only main characters to actually get Downer Endings so far?

Pee-wee is not the issue, ...the episode from whence he came, ...is. I suppose this gesture wipes 2% of the Unfortunate Implications of that episode, ...and no I won't refer to it by name along with that episode starring Rainbow Dash, and the other 5 Mane Castholes that dress up to humiliate her.

[up][up] ...What? None of the episodes are downers, unless you count the first part of the two-parters.

[up] Some are in a comical sense. This one ended badly for Spike, while The Last Roundup ended badly for Rarity (Suited For Success was also kinda bittersweet). The other characters from what I know go through a lot of abuse, but always come out smiling in the end so far.

Carrot Top was getting realllly friendly with someone at the train stop. Not sure if it was a mare or a stallion.

I can't watch the new episode yet, because my laptop shares a Wifi connection with the Xbox. Therefore, if, say, my brother was playing Black Ops 2 (which he is), both things would be slowed to the pace of treacle (which they are), and we would both get somewhat irritated (which we are).

EDIT: Issue fixed, as in, my bro is off the console. Time for poneh!

[up][up]Twas a stallion. Goes by the monicker "Written Script" in the fandom.

Also, The Last Roundup isn't a downer ending. It's a comical inconvenience ending.

@Blue It's actually the same one she was with in The Last Roundup. Yay for background character continuity! tongue

Yeah, but they are still the only two main characters that sometimes end an episode with an unhappy resolution. Just thought that was an interesting random staple.

You waited two and a half seasons, I'm sure you can wait five more minutes.

Watched. Liked. As always. Not best episode in season (because its great season with all good episodes) but still one of best Spike episodes.

I liked nod to DQ. I wish Pewee was still with Spike but that way works too (and its heartwarming). Not only CMC and Spike were great in this episode but pets too, all have their moments.

This episode should be 2 weeks ago so that charity filly could fit to this event http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Orchestra_of_Christmas_Charity

Also http://derpiboo.ru/224493 background pony continuity. And its support my headcanon about them.
