So I just saw the episode. The opening is a bit funnier if you realize that owls can eat rabbits.

Also, how the heck did Spike make that big speach with nopony hearing him?

Fridge Brilliance: Jerkass Spike kicked in due to all the jewels sparking to his greedy side again (notice he becomes more obnoxious with each one). After he's lost all of them he suffers a Jerkass Realization.

This was a pretty good episode, like how it established some amount of individual personality for each pet (Tank is The Klutz, Owlowiscious is a Silent Snarker and I predicted it, Winona is a Keet). Also like how Angel pisses off all of them.

Sorta ironic they were actually more individual than the CMC now.

@Mousa: I've only seen one negative reaction to the episode thus far, which actually makes this the most positively received episode to date.

@Psi It's not quite Fridge Brilliance, since Zecora spelled out the problem right to his face. tongue

[up]Fair enough. Just pointing out the excuse for Spike's aforementioned Jerkishness.

BIG MAC AND CHEERILEE IN THE BACKGROUND

There were a lot of cameos, but I missed that one.

Holy crap, I thought jewels were too common to be worth that much, but that's a pretty big blow dryer for one gem.

That doesn't really make sense to me either. Headcanon: they got it for cheap because it was used or a fire sale or something.

Also, one thing I liked about the episode was that the CMC actually showed personalities.

[up]They did? I mean I saw a personality, but like usual it's more or less the exact same one.

It was strange how happy I was when Zecora showed up in the episode.

It's not like they're tripping over gems in Ponyville. Rarity had to go a good ways out to find a place where they were plentiful, and she was uniquely qualified to gather them. They could quite easily be valuable, just not as valuable as in real life.

Yeah, Spike needs to talk Twilight into baking him a cake if he ever wants to get one that actually has gems in it. Or at least ask her to mix the batter for him.

The Cakes would also do it (see SOME).

Now watching Episode 10:

Blah blah, Spike is singing WOAH! They're actually acknowledging Peewee's existence? And implying that Spike returned him to his parents offscreen? Ah, that sucks. C'mon Spike, I thought you were going to teach him how to be a pony!

Must be a new (or magic) one. Balloons don't stay inflated that long.

This show really likes to make Spike do a Skyward Scream. Did this episode skip the intro or is that just on the video I'm watching?

@Psi: Honestly, even the Background Ponys have way more personality then the CMC's.tongue

This was a pretty good episode, I just don't like how A: How Peewee was dealt with, and B: The CMC's annoyed me even more in this episode then in anything else, and I don't know why either.

But overall it was a fairly solid episode.

Animu Dash.

Yeah, I found the CMC kind of samey, but I was only really annoyed by Spike's singing. Reminds me of middle school kids, and I dislike middle school kids.

@Bluespade: Xyro removed the intro on the video so it wouldn't trip Youtube's Content ID thing.

I see comments like this all the time. I just don't get it. I think they're pretty distinct.

and I don't think I've seen anything more adorable than RD and Tank

I especially liked the way they nuzzled while noone was looking.

Be warned. I just re-read it, and it is actually rather spiteful.

It's disappointing, really. Cracked columnists are normally a walking Crowning Moment of Funny, yet when covering the sensitive subject of ponies, they get the resident unfunny Jerk Ass writers to spew bile over it. It's like Wong and O'Brien were trying to piss bronies off or summat.

Why does everyone even HAVE jewels on them?

Dash and Tank have the most interesting relationship out of all the pets. Which is unsurprising I guess since there was a whole episode about them.

[up] Most likely they didn't know anything about the subject themselves and didn't really care about the quality of the article.

Am I the only one who thought the article wasn't that bad?

@marston: I think the CMC have a personality, it's actually a rather likeable and occasionally Woobie-ish personality, but that's the problem. It's a personality between all three of them.

@Ako: Is this the first time Gummy's actually changed expression (he also made a happy face during the climax).
