I really want to see how Japan handles the adaptaton.

Is it an adaptation or just a dub? Because Hasbro probably won't let them change much.

The closest anime I can think of is Glass Mask. It has the all female cast, but it isn't really slice of life. I don't know many animes.

@Applelight: I'm guessing it's an adaptation insofar as they'll probably modify speech patterns and such to fit the characterizations, as well as pull out the occasional Woolseyism for idioms or puns that wouldn't translate well. I don't think they'd change major elements of the characters or setting though.

@Applelight: That's what I'd guess. Some elements of the show just wouldn't work well if you tried to do a literal translation. Like pretty much half of what Pinkie says, or all the alliteration jokes.

There's certainly potential for Woolseyisms in this dub because of its maybe-coincidental similarity to anime.

Let's figure out what kind of Japanese Pronouns and other speech patterns everypony can use, starting with the mane cast (using info from This Very Wiki):

Twilight: Watashi, Standard Tokyo Dialect
Applejack: Uchi, Kansai Dialect
Pinkie: Atai, Standard Dialect, may have a Verbal Tic to make her sound cuter
Rainbow Dash: Boku or Ore, speaks like a shonen hero.
Rarity: Watakushi, (don't know if there are any "classy" sounding Japanese dialects)
Fluttershy: Watashi, Uses Keigo with everypony, including her friends.

I wonder which pony is going to have a Verbal Tic? Also I wonder what Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie would sound like? Also, this reminds me of the time Japan made an anime called Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z which was Japan'sversion of The Powerpuff Girls. I wonder what the background ponies's Japanese names would sound like?
