She was never really scared of Discord to begin with, even in Return of Harmony. She's more afraid of being alone than she is of him.
That reminds me that I need to actually finish Gryphon A Second Chance.
Won't be online for a while due to the holidays. Stay safe, happy and warm!
Redemption is a matter of value. Without the influence of the amulet, Trixie valued forgiveness over revenge. In her search of safety from persecution, Babs found she valued unity with those who shared her pain over persecuting those similar to her instead. With Discord, Fluttershy showed him that he valued the feelings of a friend over wanton destruction. All it takes for someone to be irredeemable is for them to reject it on the grounds that they want what they get out of their amorality more.
I just want an excuse to see griffon kitten-chicks in the show. They would be heart-poppingly cute. And in spite of everything, I think Gilda would make a good mother.

Wonder if we'll ever see hippogriffs in the show, and if so will they acknowledge where they came from?
Oh hi everypony. What's going on?
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.
Hey, Orion. Ever met a hippogriff?
Grrr. Some people on a certain image uploading site can be major a*holes.
Pronounced "Sid-zellia"
I don't think they exist.

I have to agree with Syd on Gilda; we've had enough redemptions already that it would almost be more interesting to see what would happen if she didn't. Not that it's at all impossible for it to happen, just that it would be tough to do without seeming like a rehash of other episodes.
Something else of note is that none of the the redemption stories this season were 100% turnarounds for those involved. Trixie is still arrogant as ever, Babs still solved her problem with intimidation, and Discord's almost certainly going to be trouble, if only on a lesser scale.
I don't want to see Gilda
redeemed per sey, but I do want to see her and RD repair their friendship. Something where all sides realize they were pretty big jerks.

Maybe to keep things fresh, instead of having Gilda come to Ponyville for whatever reason until she becomes reformed, the cast could get sent to the griffon kingdom. Then they meet Gilda again and she grudgingly helps with whatever Celestia sent them for, and is on better terms with the ponies when they leave.
@ Crowfall: I think that would make an excellent episode. And the change of setting would really freshen up the show.
