That's kinda like saying "shoot the pilot before he gets into his A-10". It's true and a valid strategy, but it kinda circumvents the actual point of the conversation. You could just as easily say that the ponies could blow up the general before the battle starts by using telekinesis to bomb him.

Or like going back in time to kill Pun Pun before he was born? Of course once Pun Pun ascends, he can retroactively make himself immortal, or whatever else he feels like, so it doesn't necessarily work.

Pun Pun, I believe was a character created with the many D&D rulebooks who was so powerful he could ascend to godhood at first level.

Who's Pun Pun? Is she from earlier generation?

It's a D&D concept. Basically, someone figured out a way to exploit a poorly worded ability in order to ascend to omnipotence (basically becoming the DM). The original was a Kobold who ascended at level 4, but people later improved it to work at level 1.

Nowadays Pun-pun is often used as shorthand for similarly theoretical infinite loops and the like.

Incidentally, The Terminator is a D&D build that can travel back in time to kill anyone, while hopefully remaining immune to temporal shenanigans. Unfortunately, it won't work on Pun-Pun since he obtains literal omnipotence upon ascension and can therefore rewrite the timeline at will. But it might work against stuff like the Omnifsicer (a different build exploiting other infinite loops)

Another thought. Train a unicorn to use the shield spell. Airdrop that unicorn, have them create a personal-sized shield around themselves as they fall. Would it 1) be the equivalent of dropping a boulder on something while 2) keeping the unicorn intact after hitting the ground?

Crossed Paths does something similar to this, only with Twilight putting a shield on RD. And yes, it is devastating.
