I can't imagine an average Royal Guards unicorn being able to produce a force field strong enough to withstand full blast of an M2 for more than few seconds.

As for SA's, I doubt it would take more than a couple BLU.

It's a 1% chance per CL, so pretty high.

Yeah, but compare a changling striking it to say, heavy artillery?
Tealove is best pony. Ask The Mane Six

If you took a couple dozen artillery units doing sustained fire to it, sure. Changeling swarms had the advantage of mass, after all.

Elementals Of Harmony had a side story that was basically "fixing" the events of "A Canterlot Wedding". Twilight made some modifications to SA's shield spell; one of the tweaks was that, instead of repelling the physical objects that collided with it, the shield absorbed their kinetic energy and used it as fuel. So, changelings or bullets colliding with the shield would just make it stronger.
And, since today is apparently National Jump To Conclusions Day...

Bad news. The Derpibooru character page is being cutlisted, even though it's been cleaned up pretty intensively. I don't think it's really at risk, but still.
Oh, the thread? Don't worry, it's just dead.

I've lost track of this thread. I have no idea what half of this thing you guys are talking about.tongue
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.

I doubt it could stand up to a nuke. It could maybe take one at full power, but after that it would probably crack. I bet it could take maybe a few days of bombardment from artillery or missiles, but it would take constant upkeep.

I think nuke is vastly unnecessary. Just a couple of bunker buster would do, really.

As for Shining Armor, you know, just shoot him before he raises the shield with an anti-material rifle.

@Orion: Apparently this has turned into your standard spacebattles thread.

@Mio: Hay! I'm not a Star Wars pony. I'd much prefer stories involving the travels in space than the fights in space.

I don't think it has to be necessarily anti-material. It's not like he's projecting a sphere of solid steel. You'd probably just need to apply enough force over a small enough period of time for the spell to throw up its metaphorical hands and say "screw this, I'm outta here".

@Orion: So your a Star Trek pony?

@Kyler: So the optimal solution, like everything else, is railguns.

Another thought. Train a unicorn to use the shield spell. Airdrop that unicorn, have them create a personal-sized shield around themselves as they fall. Would it 1) be the equivalent of dropping a boulder on something while 2) keeping the unicorn intact after hitting the ground?

@Kyler - No, I meant as just shooting SA directly, before he raises the shield.

Also, a bad news for pegasi. Before you say, yes, the tanks can shoot towards the sky.

@Orion: It's about adventures in space.

[up]How the hell is that relevant to a pony being airdroped?

@D Roy: That's kinda like saying "shoot the pilot before he gets into his A-10". It's true and a valid strategy, but it kinda circumvents the actual point of the conversation. You could just as easily say that the ponies could blow up the general before the battle starts by using telekinesis to bomb him.

I am not sure if that is the same case, but all right, let's just say that.
