Obviously, they have guns.

Off-screen.

In Manehattan.

Which only the cops use.

I wonder if there's a cop named Copper.

Gun were probably invented, and then the technology never advanced to a worthwhile state. It's just like how the earliest guns were pretty much worse than a bow, but lots of wars happening pushed countries to push the technology. I mean, they have cannons, which operate on the same principles.

A special present?

My wild mass guess is that Earth Ponies were the first to develop and employ cannons and early gonnes.

Perhaps the Timber Wolves do not originate from Equestria

@Story: "Bullet" can refer to projectiles other than firearms.

@JT: Oh, you were talking about sling bullets? A nugget of gold or silver or even lead would hurt like billy-o if shot from a sling properly.

wild mass guess Earth Ponies were the first to invent ranged weapons. Pegasi had clouds and weaponized weather, and Unicorns had magic attacks.

The etymology would agree with you.

Hey, you know how they tossed food as projectile weapons in Appleoosa?

Would sea pirates use grapes as grapeshot?

Well they could still be pretty dangerous at high speeds. Not lethal but still capable of injury.

Maybe bullets are actually named after the loose cannon cop from San Franciscolt who got into one of the best cart chases in cinematic history.

hey, I was just thinking

you think pegasi ever do old style cabaret dance routines except they use their wings instead of giant paper fans/frills/whatever to cover themselves?

Their wings aren't big enough to cover themselves.

Why would they want to cover themselves? They walk around naked all the time.

They wouldn't, that's the point.

because having something covered with the possibility of it being seen is sexier then not covering it at all

But if they're normally nude, I don't think they'd ever develop that theory.

Often times the suggestion of nudity can be more arousing than nudity in itself.

Just read through The Apprentice Adapt series. It's all about two worlds, one where everyone but the rulers is naked, another where everyone wears clothes. The main character goes back and forth between the two and once he's used to both, it's the semi clothed, just barely revealing teases that are the most arousing to him, rather then just fully one or the other.

@Blissey: the problem with that is since they don't have a nudity taboo, they'd never develop the idea of nudity being associated with sex, and as a result a given pony's state of undress wouldn't really trigger any sexual arousal. The degree of nudity and whatever it is that makes them attractive don't seem to be related. Granted, it doesn't preclude the idea that erotic dancing could be a thing, but it wouldn't be for striptease related reasons.

And as I pointed out, in that series, after living his whole life in a place where everyone was naked, he found the lack of nudity to be arousing. So I could see it happening. Tough yeah it wouldn't as big a thing as it is for us.

[up]Except that doesn't seem to be the case either because they do have clothes. It's not "everybody is naked so clothing is arousing" or "everybody is clothed so nudity is arousing" it's "everybody is naked some of the time, and it doesn't have much to do with arousal". Just because they don't associate nudity with sex doesn't mean they do associate clothing with sex.

Although if they do, it casts Rarity's career in a whole new light.

Earth And Sky had an amusing offhand reference to the fact that, instead of having bad dreams about showing up to some important function naked, ponies have bad dreams about showing up to some important function overdressed.
