Fun Fact: It's possible to convert an egg cell into a sperm cell, but the resulting child will always be female.
Anybody have questions that don't involve farting or innuendo?
Yes.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
@Kegisak: I think I've mentioned this before, but that's part of my theory of why females outnumber males in Equestria. Due to the methods available to give same sex couples children, the population is skewed towards females. M/F and M/M couples have an even chance of resulting in male or female children (M/M couples have to use as surrogate, obviously), while F/F couples who have biological offspring always have daughters. Over time it means that there are more females than males born.
@Storyyeller: Well, what are they? A change of subject would be great.
@JT: That would explain the off gender balance over here. Can't say if you are right though.

How about this; Colin wants to know why unicorn horns match the color of the coat.

Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.
So, would the ratio eventually reach equilibrium, or are they gradually shifting to all ponies being female?
The gender imbalance doesn't really seem to exist in canon. It kinda went away after Season 1, once the animators had more designs to use and were comfortable varying models more.
Ah, the good old days. I wonder what the Equestrian good old days were like?
Well they probably have something called The Canterlot Tales.

No there still seems to be more mares then stallions. just not QUITE as skewed as season 1
@Meta Four: It would never shift to all ponies being female unless heterosexual couples stopped reproducing altogether. It's not like an enormous imbalance or anything; like maybe a 10% difference or so.
There were some fics that theorised that mares might have been less culturally picky about sharing stallions for the purposes of repopulation.

@Ace: Wot?

Madness? I'm not mad!

@Yeller: Of course you're not mad, sir. Now, kindly stop fidgeting so I can tighten the straps on your fetching new long-sleeved jacket.
Well I fooled you, I already have a jacket.

Pop quiz! If you have Helium at -267.9 degrees Celsius and 1 atmosphere, what does it need to condense into a liquid?
It needs to be about 20% cooler.

All it takes is a little push. And a lot of explosions.
I wonder if anyone will actually get the chemistry question without cheating.
