I think of the CMC as 10-11.
The Mane 6 I think of in their twenties, with Applejack the oldest at around 26-28 and Twilight as the youngest at maybe 20.

Funny, I always thought of the Cutie Mark Crusaders as a bit younger, as I figured they were supposed to be the characters that those in the stated target audience could most relate to directly.

Back in the day the thread moved a lot faster because it was before the mods got on us for derailing all the damn time. It wasn't uncommon to see like ten pages of posts with maybe 2 that were actually pony-related. It moves slower now, but it also stays on topic for the most part.
