Dunno why I like this show but I do.

In theory it should have all the markings of something I wouldn't sniff twice at, but somehow it all works.

Say, I just found out that according to Lauren, Rarity was originally going to be the Element of 'Inspiration'. This was changed because they thought that it was too difficult a concept for kids to understand. I wonder how that could have played out.

@Applelight: It's probably for the best since I don't think "inspiration" really makes much sense in the context of the other elements. Though it does beg the question if any of the other elements were changed during the course of the shows development.

Well, they apparently used Rarity's element to help round out her character. As such, I don't see this AU Rarity as interesting or likable or admirable.

Then again, I'm the guy who took a long time to appreciate the value of the Element of Laughter.

EDIT:

Hers apparently was the hardest to decide. IIRC, they decided on Fluttershy's instantly and figured ut Applejack's very quickly as well.

I'd have to say Rarity is my favorite, but all of the main six have their charms.

Not to suggest the show is without flaws. The whole FRIENDSHIPOMGWTFAWESOME could be toned down a tiny bit, as could the Hold Your Hippogriffs, but its not deal-breaker level.

Currently halfway through season 1.

Welcome. And yes, that's the standard response. I agree that the show is not without it's flaws, but on the whole it's quite good.

Yeah, the whole "everypony" thing takes a while to get used to. I still refuse to use it in any context outside of referring to the ponies, too. It just weirds me out a bit when people use it to refer to real people. I'm not a pony!

I think the Hold Your Hippogriffs thing is charming in the context of the show, but I have to agree that using "anypony" to refer to real life is really cheesy.
