I wonder how vindicated Mousa will feel when he finds out that both Rarity and Rainbow Dash endorse slavery.tongue

And again. The Timberwolf Elder is big and strong, and probably has Trample, but it has a Toughness of 1.

But between its toughness and the fact that you have to sacrifice three wolves in order to summon it, it's not all that great. I wonder what its CMC is?

Dashie's the sort that if you want to do favours for her she'll take 'em, and Rarity can't turn down someone else's generosity either.

@Irish: It's a token creature created by sacrificing X Timber wolves.

@JT I just figured he's better at doing library housework than farm housework.

The plot would've worked even if he was capable, AJ would be uncomfortable no matter what.

Cue divergence fics where she loans him to Rarity/Dash to tire him out

Minions only have 1 HP, though. I don't thing regeneration helps.

Hm... To make it a MTG card again:

Timberwolf: 1+G

Treefolk Wolf

Power:2 Toughness:1

1+G: Regenerate Timberwolf

Timberwolf Elder: 2/GG

Treefolk Wolf

Power:10 Toughness: 1

Trample

1+G: Regenerate Timberwolf Elder

Yes, that is exactly why I liked it becuase it feels like a season 1 episode. That is my favourite season, to me its the season where the true heart of the show lies. Season 2 was too much hit and miss and this season while technically and character wise is better I felt like a bit of the heart the show had is missing. Like its getting a little mean spirited even with the whole redemption thing. I don´t know how to explain it, I just like season 1 better.

It actually happened [lol] (Now I'm curious whether or not this idea ended up being anywhere near accurate)

You're right, it was a time when they didn't try to do super complex stuff with the show and just focused on ponies learning life lessons. A nice change of pace, but didn't have the jump-up-and-fist-pump factor that the past few episodes (Sleepless, Wonderbolt) have had.

@Mio: Rarity's deal is that she's regularly up to her ears in deadlines, and Spike has genuinely helped her before. With RD, the entire point was that she wanted to give Spike a ridiculous task to do so he'd decide to give up the whole "be in servitude to AJ forever" thing. She comes out and says she didn't expect him to actually build the rock tower.

Not really real more like Twilight knows how important its is to him.

no, Twi was clearly referring to dragons in general when talking about how important their code is. As far as I'm concerned, dragons have individual Dragon Codes that they follow is confirmed.

Ace: So, you think it's more like this:

Howling of the Forest:

Instant

Sacrifice [X] Treefolk Wolf creatures. Summon a Timberwolf Elder Token (Green Treefolk/Wolf, Trample, [X]/1)

JT got it in one.

Also Rarity can't turn down Spike's Generosity, especially not after he gave her his Fire Ruby.

@Enlong: Yeah, pretty much.

I think maybe Spike got so overenthusiastic about helping that he became a screw up.

That's my stupid justification.

The thing that always bothered me was the idea that one episode of OOC = character derailment. Don't people have bad days in real life where they act totally weird? Why can't fictional characters?

Really? To me it felt more like "oh its something my little brother is always talking about, you will hurt his feeling if you don´t listen to him" thing. I mean all the other dragons so far have been acting like jerks not noble. And his card its obviosuly handmade.

Yeah, I tend to give characters a bit of leeway over stuff like that, but still. Not that it's unbelievable that Spike would screw up; I just think they made him a bit too disaster prone. Then again, it's obviously for Rule of Funny, so it really doesn't matter.

Agree, sort of. Dragons aren't exactly noble, maybe Spike is trying to be an exception so he created a code to abide by.

@JT: What kept it from being totally OTT for me was the fact that Spike still retains competence in some things. For example, he's probably super-observant from his work as Twilight's assistant and that attention to detail showed when he saw through their ruse.

Thanks, Ace. Actually, such a card would work in the situaion shown. Activate it when they're all to be destroyed, and say "I sacrifice them all before they're destroyed"

What would the cost of such a card be? GG/1? It's gotta be a cost that justifies sacrificing them instead of just regenerating them each time they're to be broken.

I liked at the end how Spike had to consciously remember that ponies don't have hands to shake. That was kind of cute.

2GG? The resulting Elder Timber Wolf would be X/1 or X/2, where X is the number of Timber Wolves you threw into the pile.

X/2 would probably work, to make it worth sacrificing all those Timber Wolves. A Green deck would probably have ways to make it tougher.

There might also be a card that acts as a token generator for 1/1 Timberwolves, to make combos with that card more abusable.
