@Bad Considering that the source there is someone posting on /co/ and he's referencing information second hand, it's a bit less reliable than I'd like.

Even then, all he says is "Ponies do not drink" which falls in line with the direct Word Of God saying "Nopony approves of boozing it up". Nothing saying that alcohol doesn't exist or that it can't be a thing with non-ponies and be introduced to their culture that way. The only thing we do know is that it's a taboo.

@Badwolf: The only quote I've ever heard from Faust on the matter is the "nopony approves of boozing it up" quote I mentioned earlier. Not to mention that Faust as admitted that stuff that doesn't appear in the show proper is basically just her headcanon anyway. TL;DR there's no real definitive Word Of God on the matter that isn't vague or contradicted elsewhere so it's all up to headcanon anyway.

After plugging "nopony approves of boozing it up" into Google I got four results. Three of which were this thread. The other one was the Recap of A Canterlot Wedding. Which was immediately preceded by ponies don't make alcohol.

Apparently it does in Equestria. That, or instantaneous fermentation is subtle highly honed trick of the Apple family, that the Flim Flams have managed to duplicate with their machine.
