My guess is that RD would probably try to bring Gilda into her regular circle of friends. How well that ends up working is anyone's guess.

Think Gilda has friends beside Dash?

I picture one of the ponies throwing a stick over the Diamond Dogs' heads, allowing the ponies (and Spike) to escape while they're busy fetching it. They are dogs, after all!

Say, what would've happened if Discorded Rainbow Dash had run into Gilda?

I doubt it.

If she did, then she would've abandoned RD completely. As things stand she seemed oddly insistent that they keep in touch.

I really don't think Gilda has any friends beyond Dash. She's better around Dash, but alone, she's a jerk - so my theory is that once Dash moved to Cloudsdale, Gilda began alienating all of their mutual friends one by one. By the time my fic is set (after the Gala), she's entirely alone.

I think that little tidbit shows that Gilda is decent, very deep down. But her pride and arogance is her undoing.

Wonder how Dash would react though? Would Dash be totally dismissive and uncaring (leaving G to do the work), or would she be sad at how things turned out, and make an effort to rebuild the bridge?

It might help if we knew more about the Griffons as a whole; it's possible that Dash is her only pony friend. If being aggressive is a griffon thing, she might have other griffon friends.

As I said, she's loyalty. If she saw that Gilda was making an honest attempt to make ammends, then I see no reason why she wouldn't accept her

Ah, but if Gilda was like 'oh screw you Dash. Go play with the rest of the dweebs?

Would Dash say 'fine, screw you too'? Or would she say 'ah Gilda, come on. Stop being like this?'

Edit: I should point out, I'm very interested in this because it reminds me of an incident in my own life.

A friend of over ten years screwed me over big time in a money matter. I told him to beat it.

He came back two years later looking for forgiveness. I told him to beat it again.

It's a decision I now deeply regret.

Probably the latter, although only up to a point. She's not going to put up with Gilda's crap forever.

That's why I think she'd be better off neutral than as a full blown goodie. RD's relationship with her would be an interesting one if Gilda steadfastly refused to change, yet still displayed traits of being a good friend on occasion (like by saving RD's life)

About the weirdness of the resolution of Luna Eclipsed. I think what it was going for is that the solution was to have her basically play up the intimidating thing in the right way. Playing along with the whole "candy offering" thing was a good way to go about it, because from the start of the episode, it's made kinda clear that that particular bit is a haunted house-esque attraction for the kids. So, by doing that, they kinda show them that she can be cool (for lack of a better word), and then they can open up to her more, once they sort of see some of who she is underneath all the sound and fury. Long story short, she had them see Luna's intimidating side in the right light, so to speak. I imagine that Twilight went and told the Mayor the plan a few minutes beforehand or something, which is why she sounds so knowing.

Junior Speedster's isn't really a song, but it's listed as one.

That's kinda what I thought, but I don't think the episode made that very clear. Especially as Luna's entrance is totally in line with playing the part of Nightmare Moon, and they were freaked out after that. Although given the demon chariot and everything, who wouldn't be.

Winter Wrap-Up, the CMC's talent show song, Hush Now, Quiet Now.

I like to imagine that a major part of the initial scare was her change in physical appearence since the last time they saw her. I think that her size change and ethereal mane could have very well made them think that history was repeating itself. She, erm "assuaged" that with the content of her speech, but the way she went about saying it didn't help matters one bit. Then everything went downhill later, with the spiders.

Speaking of her speech, I think that was one of my favorite parts, just hearing what she was actually saying there. Think about it: she makes it clear that she knows what the holiday is, and just why it's called Nightmare Night. And she isn't at all resentful of any of that. To the contrary, all she wants is to show them that she's a changed mare, and wants to make the holiday a joyous one. It takes her some time to figure out that it already is one.

She had 2 lines in Winter Wrap-up, but I guess you can say she didn't sing.

I love the Junior speedsters chant. It's like the ONLY nice thing Gilda ever does and she does it with disdain too.

Yeah, that's the closest she gets to good in canon.

Oh wait, right. I forgot. I was thrown by the fact that she's one of the only two there without a verse to herself.
