Exceptional as in going beyond lengths the others would take. We've seen Rarity being generous to an extent most others would draw the line or Pinkie being happy in the most hectic of moments. We've yet to see RD's loyalty come off as truly enduring over others however.

For a quick and easy comparison, you can look at Sisterhooves Social and Sleepless in Ponyville. When Applejack is made a surrogate sister by Sweetie Belle, she's clearly uncomfortable and only goes along with it so that she can swap with Rarity and get things back to normal. When Scootaloo makes RD aware of her desire for a big sister figure, RD gladly accepts and is completely encouraging and supportive.

Not to mention that the only thing that could break RD's loyalty to her friends and mission in The Return of Harmony was a conflicting loyalty to her home. That's almost on par with Fluttershy needing to be brute-force brainwashed.

Well, this one was just on fimfiction before the author baleeted it. By the time he stopped writing it was at 180 chapters and something in the area of five to six hundred thousand words.
