The leaked pictures of episodes 12 and 13 do not in any way appear to be related, so we can't assume anything about it being a two part finale.
The fact that they were wedding episodes were mandated; we have no way of knowing whether the fact that it was a two-parter was mandated or whether they just wanted to give the season a good send-off.
and wasn't there that hint of a straight to TV movie or something of the sort?

Twilight being shafted? Twilight's had so much screentime I'd be happy if they had a season without a Twilight centric episode.
.... it's an ensamble show, you are going to have the spotlight sahred between the ponies, and they do so pretty damn evenly, so please, stop with all the "X id being ignored" crap
Also how come MLP:Fi M is the only work that has a dedicated list of pages that it provides the image for? (and by extension one for former images)?
I actually started that way back in the day when there was a big argument about whether MLP had too many page images. Presuambly, people have been updating it since then.

One thing the fan base has shown is that it shouldn't be too hard to come up with episode ideas for the girls. Naturely though, the show writers have to be a bit more discerning with the topics.

really the only one that's rather difficult is AJ, since she's the least liekly to do something on her own that would require a lesson or that would make a good episdoe, her real strength is playing off other ponies. hence why she tends to be the pony that shares the most episodes with others after Twi

The thing is she's the least likely to leave her comfort zone without somepony else pushing her out of it.
But seriously, if we got a G 4.5 I'd probably want it to be something centered on a side character in another location in Equestria. Oooh, maybe it could be based on the Manehattan CMC branch and their families or something. I really would like to have a cast with a different sort of setup. Like maybe you'd have Babs, two others, and their families as the primary cast. Preferably one with continuity, so you could actually have them get cutie marks and develop that way.
They could also do it like
Legend Of Korra.
