@Apple: Well, my fanon leans away from most peoples, but...
Trottingham is the land of Gold and Silver. One of the richest nations in the world, due in no small part to its very close trading partnership With Equestria, which has existed for several hundred years(Since the reign of Prince Polaris Star the explorer). In fact, it is said that Princess Celestia holds the title of being the only one of the comsic council that Trottiongham's patron deity, Queen Mable, goddess of all things held precious, actually likes.
In spite of this, Trottingham gholds itself in good standing with it's two neighbors, Fancee and Furheim, if the three countries do hold rivalry at times. Trottingham stands as the navy to Fancee's infantry and Furheim's artillery, being the only nation to rival Aloa for naval power.
Due to its richness, Alleigences and military standing, Trottingham is not a country left wanting. It is often seen by less friendly nations by having a culture of hedonism(In particular by Mitaan, whose culture emphasizes diligence and wisdom). It's known for having several 'extra' meals during the day, sprawling banquets and vibrant festivals. Natives are friendly with one another and foreigners, if a bit confused by their customs. there is a large emphasis on exhibiting good cheer, particularly in the face of adversity, and a good deal of their cultural humour comes from the juxtaposition of their cheer with terrible goings-on. Overall having a very idealistic worldview, Trottinghamites are generally welcomed everywhere in the world.
Of course, there is a darker side to the country, as it is with all nations. Trottingham is a nation of divisions. Due to be a very small nation it has very little personal wealth, and so while the midland, richer cities are extravagant and beautiful, the rural areas and countryside are very dirty, and often ridden with petty crime by those too poor to feed themselves, committed against those too poor for anyone to care. Most rural cities make their livings off of farms, though the coastal cities receive a boon in the way of shipping and military. In fact, the wealth of the midland cities aside, the port cities are often cited as the number one place for tourists to visit. They're far enough away from the capitol to get a feel for the 'true' Trottingham, but military enough to be relatively low on crime.
