Are there any female characters in your crew?

I figured I'd stop by real quick by saying... OWWWW! The Wonderbolt training regiment hurts!
...Oh goodie; dinner in the mess hall.
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.
You've got to keep a balance.
If you focus to much on the story, your characters will suffer for it.
All the same, if you focus to much on your characters, the story will suffer.
Hence, the need for balance. This coming from the guy who can't even put his ideas on paper, so feel free to disregard at your liesure.

I guess you'd have to balance it out with some other mares and females of other species among the rest of the cast.
Oh, the thread? Don't worry, it's just dead

You don't have too, as a rule, but I like it better when genders are more equally represented in a story.

I suggest the second one. Lets you work with the bonds being formed over time instead of just having them right there.

You could combine them. The single pony goes off on an adventure alone, and as he travels comes across and gathers together the friends he had back in school.
I gree with Crowfall! That sort of thing is great for building upon friendships that were already there, since ponies do change over the passage of time.

That's one of the best parts of One Piece - who knows who the tenth crew member will be!
Making friends is the best!

What's that.
What's what?
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
Maybe we'll be seeing Discord again. Something cool like that. Though he does seem more like season finale material than random midseason episode.
Well I don't think he's coming back in season 3.
