Okay, that was a pretty great ending. The moral was plain to see from early on, but it worked well.

I think they left LD's fate ambiguous on purpose. It could be anything from a censure to a discharge. We really have no idea. And yeah, major character development for RD. I think it says a lot about her that she'd drop out of contention over something like that.

It depends: is Wonderbolt Academy supposed to be basic training or a selection course? On a basic training course you might get away with being busted back to the beginning for a safety violation but on a selection course, you'd probably be out never to return.

If this was real-world I'd say that LD's dreams are dead, but this is Equestria. Luna tried to cast the nation into eternal darkness and she got her princess position back with just an apology. If LD turns over a new leaf, I see no reason why she couldn't try out a second time.

I like how Rainbow wasn't immediately put off by Lightning Dust. How, at the beginning, it looked like the whole idea was learning to let someone else take the lead. And then it instead turned into something about how you can't let your desire to win and push yourself come at the expense of everyone around you. Because the Wonderbolts are a team, and that is not how a successful team operates.

this wasn't jus a safety violation, this was doing something that very nearly killed ponies, and THEN, showing ZERO remorse, or even understanding that you fucked up and won't do it again.

yeah that gets you ass canned ANYWHERE.

If it was just the accident, maybe just demoted or councilled. But the not caring that she almost killed ponies after the fact and showing no remorse or even admitting she made a mistake, GONE!
