I understand the problem with that, but I was talking about reasons that it was hated disproportionately to its quality.

Mare-Do-Well isn't great, but it's far from awful. It's not even the worst FIM episode.

Might as well leave my feelings on it here:

MMDW: Some serious issues with the characters and setting being inconsistent with previous portrayals. I don't think any characters were horribly, blatantly OOC, but it just doesn't feel like it's on the same page as other episodes.

HWE: I don't really have any major issues with this one, even with the backstage stuff. It doesn't stick out to me as "OMG AWESOME", but there are no major issues either.

PYHD: I think the jerkassishness of the characters was exaggerated a bit, but not to the degree where it felt truly out of place. It could stand to be toned down a bit, but the gloriousness that is Iron Will outweighs those problems.

DQ: Not a fan of this one, but that's mainly because I think the episode wasted a lot of potential. The characters were fine, I just think that as a whole the plot was rather lackluster. Awesome music though.

MMDW did have issues, but yes, it's far from the worst episode. IMO, that's Over a Barrel. And even that I like rewatching sometimes. And some people really like it.

For the other episode, I mostly agree with JT, but HWE is one of my favourite epsodes.

That IS something to be scared of.

Probably. Flu shots are flu, only weakened.

Depends on the kind of vaccine they used. Some vaccines contain a nerfed version of the pathogen to let your body develop antibodies against the real illness.

@Kisame: Yeah, it is. It's a mild case of the flu so your body knows how to deal with it if you get infected again in the future.

This explains a lot.

@Sereg: It's one of those oddities of "personal preference vs. technical execution". I think that on a technical level OAB is better written than MMDW, but in terms of how much I enjoy them they're pretty much even. Depending on my mood I might enjoy MMDW more.

I still say even after watching her latest contribution that she is still the weakest writer of the lot. Though at least now I can say that I like most of her episodes, even if none of them are really my favorite. Though I don't think I can get over Mare Do Well, since I really think it's pretty bad.

@JT: Understood. I recognise MMDW's issues, but enjoyed the episode too much to be completely put off by them. Whereas Over a Barrel battled to keep me interested.

So I'd still consider Polsky my least fave writer. I'm not even really a fan of Too Many Pinkie Pies.
