Well it seems that my theory about Luna helping was correct. It's nice to see her adjusting well and getting along great with the kids.

I gotta be honest I wasn't expecting any canon Scootalove, but hey I'll take it. Applejack as usual is the one of only ponies who realizes what's going on. They really dragged out the Rarity prissiness for all the jokes they could, and in the end even she couldn't resist a little friendly sisterly competition.

So yeah, good first impression from Mr.(or Ms.) Powell hope to see more from him(her) in the future.

I could even see her just letting them pull it without thinking why it would be bad. If they complained or said something i'm sure she would help.

That being said the having Sweetie push her on her couch things at the same time..THAT was a bit over the top

Yeah, Rarity making her younger sister pull that huge cart was the only issue I had with her character this episode. Come on, just pull the thing with magic or something.

So who's ready for dozens of remixes of the new song?

Now we just wait until Rainbow Dash's teddy bear gets an episode.

I think Corey is a she, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, RD was handled really well. At first I was afraid that they'd make her a bit too abrasive, but they did a good job of showing her being helpful and considerate as well. She was a bit oblivious to how scared Scootaloo was, but that's within her character, and she's the type of pony to just take Scootaloo at her word.

Yeah, RD got the balance right. Abrasive, but still caring.

I regret having ever disliked her. She's really improving to me. Rarity took a slight hit, but her hilarity makes up for it.

I'm not really sure I'd call Rarity overly flanderized, here. I mean, bear in mind she didn't want to go in the first place, so it's not hugely surprising she'd be a bit whiny. But the fact that she did it for Sweetie, and was still really nice to her... in spite of treating her sort of like a packmule, was sweet, especially given the last episode they spent time together in. Plus she did go in for the race at the end...

I'll agree she seemed pretty flat and out of it because she simply didn't do much, and I'll probably agree that she and Rarity could have easily been left out(But then, I would have written Sweetie into the episode too, after she said she wanted to go...), but I think there are enough tiny little moments that make it clear she's not a complete primadonna, so I'm disinclined to call her flanderized.

Anyway, Rarity complaints aside, I really like how they handled RD and Scoots. It's nice how all the CMC have slightly different dynamics with their big sister figures. And yes, it seems like they're building Luna up to be good with kids. I kinda hope they expand on that a bit more.

Flanderized definitely doesn't fit; that's something that takes place over the course of the whole series. Exaggerated, yes. Also, I probably would have written Rarity and Sweetie out. It would have been fairly easy to throw in a few lines from Sweetie with "Rarity is taking me on a trip to Canterlot this weekend/We're going to visit relatives/whatever". I mean, the CMC are close friends, but it doesn't mean that they literally have to do everything together. Sisterhooves Social didn't have Scootaloo, after all.

I suppose this is what happens when you have Rarity in the funny role in an episode that focuses on Scootaloo (and Rainbow Dash) Character Development.

According to this, Corey Powell is a "she." I never knew Corey was a unisex name.

Here's a theory...if Pinkie is Rule of Funny personified...does this confirm once and for all that RD is Rule Of Cool personified?

She can do anything so long as it's awesome. I hope so!

Next week: We hopefully find out why Pinkie wants to wear that cot-damn mustache.

I don't know why, but the whole thing about Princess Luna coming to council Scootaloo reminds me of an old piece of Nightmare Moon fanart.

Yeah, it's kinda hard to get much nuance out of a character when you're not focusing on them, and there were enough echos of Sisterhooves Social in her interactions with Sweetie Belle that it's not really problematic. Besides, Sweetie Belle wasn't complaining.

Also, I think this episode is probably the most adorable thing I've ever seen on the show. That whole last two scenes, man.

Yeah I just loved Luna here, and they played her just right. I can totally see her just watching over the fillies and colts of Equestria, helpping them with their nightmares, it was just perfect.

agreed that last few scenes, RD holding up Scoots as she helps her FLY! so so so heartwarming it it was just perfect

Yeah, usually it takes me two watches to REALLY like an episode, but I pretty much liked this one the first go around.

The excellent stream I was part of helped a bit too.
