I didn't know there was a Blind RD tumblr, so I really can't say. It's...pretty bad, though. Like I said, I'm done.

One good thing about those tumblrs is that they provide some great snark bait for derpibooru.

I kinda like the blind RD tumblr... I mean yeah, I'll admit that there's no real need for it and the premise is unnecessarily dark, but I think it was handled fairly well. RD wasn't her usual boistrous self but it managed to keep out of angst territory too heavily, except for a few entires. Most of the blog was ust showing how she'd adapted with a small background storyline. Heck, there was more to do with Twi having the hots for her than the actual blindness.

Man, I've been kicking around an idea for an ask blog for a good while now, but I can't draw and I'm not willing to spend a bunch of money on the equipment I would need to really learn how when I'm not sure if it would ever pan out. It kinda bums me out.

There's also a Scootaleukemia tumblr.

I have to say I do regard the whole Like Reality Unless Noted thing...except that in 90% of the cases the "like noted" clause basically blows established physics out of the water. My overall take is that the physical laws of nature as we know them do exist, but that magic is able to circumvent them so easily they they're ultimately more guidelines than anything else. Like there is a law of conservation of mass and energy in Equestria, it's just that magic can overcome it, so it's not an immutable law in the same way it is in our universe.

So Like Reality Unless Noted basically means anything that deviates from real world science in the setting can be attributed to magic.

@Kegisak: If I ever did an ask blog (which I won't because I don't have the time and can't draw) I'd try to subvert the whole sadness element of it. Like I'd pick the most unnecessarily tear-jerky theme I could think of, but then focus on the pony in question overcoming the issue fairly quickly and learning to deal with it. Like I'd have a tumblr where Twilight's horn gets broken off, but rather than have her angst endlessly about it, it would focus on her attempts to adjust to life without magic. There's be some sadness, sure, but it would more about stuff like her having difficulty getting books off of her shelves without levitation or whatnot.

...and now I have a mental image of Fluttershy chastising gravity for misbehaving.

Sad ask blogs may be ridiculous, but personally I would gladly take them over any of the grimdark blogs that it seems have fallen out of favor these days.

Sad-but-not-grimdark is right up my alley.

@Re: Kegi's already pointed out part of that. Also, technically, science requires uncertainty in order to remain science. As I said, I veiw our laws of physics as there but incomplete. I have a similar position to JT on this, though there are some technical differences. As I see magic as part of their physics for example.

I remember when practically everyone on this thread had an avatar from Ask Pinkamena Diane Pie, right up until she killed Fluttershy when everyone went "Okay, she crossed the line! Screw her!" *leaves*

I thought it crossed the line well before that. Never had an avatar from it either.

I still to this day do not understand the appeal of that blog, at least beyond the horror/gore/exploitation aspect of it.

I read through it once and it just made me angry (probably a desired reaction).

Yeah, I've been Guy!Twi since the beginning. Except for that one period when I was shaggy kicking the penguin in the face.

Facto f the matter concerning the sadblogs, for me, is that I honeslty have no room to criticise. I mean, the setup for my own blog is admittedly just as arbitrary, and I'll admit the Gayngst that can sneak in does poke it into sad territory at times anyways, even if I do try and keep it mostly humorous.To say nothing of how their relationship began, which would fuel a dozen terrible sadblogs and fanfics for some time

it did have a sort of morbid humour I could see people liking, though it jumped off the deep end pretty quick. A lot of grimdark blogs do that. Start off as Black Comeies and then turn into pointlessly bleak Torture Porn.

The Ask Pinkamena thing had two selling points from what I recall: 1. it was one of the first popular dark humor blogs, so it didn't seem nearly as cliche as all the others it inspired. 2 like noted it actually stuck to black comedy rather than just being gory. The reason the Fluttershy thing got people riled up is because it was the first event that was just straight up sad/horrific without actually being funny.

Re: Avatars: I've been psycho Twi for a month or so. I might change it soon now that I've got most of my work done.

I've been Scootaloo for a while now, and the only reason I'd change would be if someone drew more art for me. That's not likely to happen, though.

And Syd has been Vinyl for a while.

I started out with Season One Luna. Then I went with wet-mane Rarity for a while. After a short fling with Tealove, I settled down with Vinyl Scratch. She combines my love for pony with my love for music.

Pinkamena in that blog always came across as. . ."smug" to me, on top of all the other things. I just never really could laugh at the black comedy since I hated the character so much.

I've actually had several avatars on this thread though I imagine that I will remain some variation of Cranky for awhile.
