So, while rewatching the intro to Magic Duel, something the shopkeeper said caught my attention. He said that the Alicorn Amulet was "one of the most mysterious and powerful of the known magcial charms."

There are more artifacts like it out there. Lots more, from the sound of things. That's actually a really cool worldbuilding detail hidden away like that.

I disagree that Fluttershy was at all characterized badly. Sure, she was scared, but it would be out for character for her not to be. The main difference here is that she wasn't given any time to gather her courage like she usually is, because time was critical. She was fine by the time she got to Zecora's place.
