Well that was a pretty good episode. nice to see Trixie wasn't completely bugnut crazy after all. Plus, that cutting off Pinkie gag at the end was great!

@Bad That's because she was specifically trying to fry her with an agony spell here (which is pretty brutal in retrospect). She could have TK'd her, but she was still in evil mode.

Also, R63 spells are specifically non-canon. "No unicorn can" perform them. Fanfic writers will need to get a bit more creative now.

Trixie's magic is tuned toward special effects, anyway, not actually doing anything significant otherwise.

So, Boast Busters was retconned I see. In that Trixie could easily defeat Rainbow Dash, in this she can at best tickle her.

See, that's because Trixie was doing the wrong thing. Before, she used her normal tricks to trip up and confuse Rainbow. Here, she was trying her amulet-powered Cruciartus Curse, which can't really be done without an amplifier. In other words, she was focusing her magic into the wrong spell for the situation, imagining that she still had a power boost.

Okay, so we now know that if a unicorn is skilled enough in magic, they can do tons of other things too, though aging is the only one we've seen.

@Crow: Not sure; they never show that you're able to use it on yourself. Might explain how Granny Smith might be hundreds of years old, though.

@Ace: I know, when I saw the rule 63 spell my first thought was "crap, Derpibooru is now going to be nothing but genderflip art forever". There will still be a rush of it, obviously, but at least it's not a canon ability of Twilight's.

@Nomuru: Either that or the spell reverts automatically after the power runs out.
