There's a way to rationalize Canon!Luna with Progress!Luna. Canon!Luna's hamminess is how Luna is like when she's confident and/or trying to conceal her various insecurities.

She makes great cheese to go with that HAM.

Large Ham is mere acting style while Ham and Cheese is milking the best out of a bad situation with ham.

OH god, I expected Luna to be hammy in this episode, but this one breaks time and space of how HAMMY she is.

Large Ham is the supertrope. It's for huge overacting and extremely loud characters.

Ham and Cheese is when the actor knows he's in an extremely bad or cheesy work, and decides to just have fun with it by hamming it up as much as possible, since he's stuck with it.

Large Ham is when you are ALWAYS like that. Ham n' Cheese (No not that Hamncheese) is usually for when you HAM it up for kicks.

Luna has an unfair advantage because of the volume of her voice though

I love this episode. I'm not much familiar with fanon Luna so canon Luna doesn't destroyed much for me. And Luna what we got was awesome. I love every aspect of her, her voice (it sound more like NMM than pilot Luna), her aditude, epic haminess with some angst. I hope to see more of her. Her of episode what great to, I can't wait for better quality upload on YT.

As usual, everypony except Twilight is holding an Idiot Ball...

AJ wasn't too bad.

Pinky wasn't, she was trolling Luna.

Just finished the episode. Yeah, I'm late, so what.

Liked it. Luna wasn't quite as expected, but that's good.

But really, everypony, and even Spike was so Idiot Bally it made my brain hurt. Atleast Pinkie was justified later of knowing all along.

This episode is better than last one and not much worse than Dis Qord eps. I think second my fav after Return Of Harmony.

Pipsqueak was pretty cool. Extra brownie points for cheering up Luna like that, kid.

I get it it must had been a long time since episode 1 and 2, but seriously...

SO. MUCH. IDIOT BALL!

So, as I thought, this episode is begging to be used extensively in a "This Is Halloween" PMV. Alongside the Discord episodes and the pilot, for a few extra necessary clips. Actually, may not even need the pilot, what with Luna doing the Nightmare Moon schtick near the end.

Rainbow and Rarity weren't around enough to react to Luna, Pinkie was playing it up the whole time, Applejack only jumped momentarily, thanks to Luna's little entrance the first time, and Fluttershy is on her absolute last nerve in terms of being scared already.

Now, having said that, who was holding the idiot ball?

I'm debating myself on which Luna entrance was better. While her descending on that chariot was indeed epic. For some reason I prefer the way she swoops down and advances on the town. Her cloak dissolving into bats and her wings spreading looked AWESOME

Did they change her voice actor? She sounds different.
