Re: Cadence: I figure that perhaps, Alicorns simply age very slowly. I don't think Celestia and Luna have visibly aged a day in 1000 years. Perhaps Twilight's lifetime simply occurred during some sort of growth-spurt for Cadence, and she won't be visibly aging a whole lot any time soon.

I do like the idea hat she's the lost daughter of the Crystal Kingdom's last Queen.

and till we learn more about Alicorns, my headcannon is Tia and Luna are Alicorns, Cadance is just a pony with an extremely rare genetic mutation that gives her both horn and wings, but not the full abilities of each race like the true Alicorns. She's not related to either of them, and the title of "princess" is honorary for any pony that is born like that, and the neice part is more affection the biological, she has horns and wings, therefor she MUST be related to the princesses. Rather then fight it, the Sisters have just gone along with it through time when it happens

Which also explains Blueblood, one of his ancestors was a winged unicorn which is where his families status, title, and relation to Celestia came from.

In any case, I think the biggest piece of evidence towards Cadance being young is the fact that she was a babysitter. That's not a job a centuries old demigod would want (or even be allowed to have given the responsibilities someone in her position would have had if she were that old). It's the stereotypical job of a teenager. Yeah, sure, you can headcanon it away like anything else if you'd like, but when the show pretty directly hints at stuff like that I'm inclined to listen.

And Blueblood was a distant relative, so he may have some regular unicorn ancestors or something. To be an alicorn, you probably need both parents to be alicorns. It's got to be recessive.

@Seraph Yeah, I have to agree with condo here. At least in the magic department she's shown power far beyond anything Twilight has done, and there's nothing to suggest that she can't fly completely either, especially considering her condition both times she's flown.

I'd like to see Luna babysit Pound and Pumpkin, just to hear her sing a lullaby.
