Speaking of which, Mirror Universe is a great pun.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
What does FACEHOOF do? Is it a move that does nothing, but prevents you from hurting yourself while in Confusion?
I'm more inclined to say the perspective shifted during the scene rather than the scene was always from clone Pinkie's perspective.
Tealove is best pony.
Pony Fanon Index
@Perpetual: I can kinda see that, but I'd find it highly unlikely that it was borrowing alternate universe Pinkies because if it was, there'd be an infinite number of universes to choose from, and the probability of all the ones that showed up being virtually identical seems like a stretch. The whole "plurality of universes" thing just seems needlessly complicated when "the pool made magic copies" explains it just as well.
Yeah, it's complicated, but it fits with a logical interpretation of the scene and fixes any issues of clone sapience and rights. Nobody else has to go with it, but it works for me.
I don't quite buy into the "multiple mirror universes" hypothesis, but I do see that first cloning scene as a demonstration that the clones had some sort of existence before they came into the real world. And an implication that they continued existing in that mirror-realm after Twilight dispelled them.
That would be running a punchline into the ground.
Look at it this way: later on, we see the cloning process entirely from the outside, and none of the ones reciting the chant climb into the pool at any point.
So, who climbed into the pool in that first scene? "The copy" is the only answer that makes sense to me.
I have a message from another time...
@Blissey: Yes, I would watch the HELL out of that movie.
That would be running a punchline into the ground.
Oh hi ponies. What's going on?
Yeah, Andromeda is heading for you. You got over 9000 years until it collides.
@Blissey: That movie would be glorious.
So, who climbed into the pool in that first scene? "The copy" is the only answer that makes sense to me.
I say artistic licesnce.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
@Blissey: I would so watch that movie.
Unity of the Sun Mare
I'm going with Story, it was just Artistic license, it as what it would have loked like from the other side, had there been something there in the first place.
Build a fool proof system, and the world will create a better fool.
My random thoughts
Either that or the clone was created in the pool and then the camera switched to follow it as it came out.
I can't be horrified, I'm too busy shaking my fist at Fallout: Equestria. It's used up all of my spare moral outrage.
