It was a two-way mirror that Pinkie had installed. In case of a mirror emergency.

Don't ask me how she knew which room Twilight would go into.

Also, Ginger not being around is a weird feeling. In this particular conversation, I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, in the form of a tirade against the Rule of Funny.

I could probably come up with something, but despite having similar views as Ginger about Pinkie and Rule of Funny I don't share his. . .passion on the issues.

Really though, Pinkie seems to be the last character you would want to get all Watsonian on. Her antics are supposed to be strange an unexplainable in-universe so that the reactions of the characters in-universe can add to the humor.

@Kegi: I'm not arguing against her stashing stuff.

@JT: Except the Party of One chase scene was played more for drama than funny.

Of course, Pinkie being almost as fast as RD isn't actualy that weird as Applejack is around that speed as well which weknow from Fall Weather Friends. Of course, that's only RD's land speed which is probably significantly slower.

EDIT:[up]Strange and unexplainable, but actually having happened or they wouldn't be able to react at all!

VVP: thou hast been corrected. I suppose I just didn't feel like quoting you to correct it.

That is, I made my post in full knowledge of you having made that post.

Wait a minute.....

In the next episode, Pinkie clones herself.

That's how she can seemingly move around so fast!

Pinkie is sort of like Loki. Except without all the evil stuff, obviously.

Why do you think she says "Okie dokie lokie"?

I cannot fathom how one can apply any Watsonian explanation on Pinkie's borderline supernatural shenanigans.

Because she likes playing the name game?

@Sereg: Fair enough I suppose. I still find a watsonian explanation to be quite silly since the fact that her antics are inexplicable in-universe is the whole point.

@dRoy: You could, but it would probably be very ridiculous and ultimately be rather irrelevant.

There's also the fact that if Pinkie really could be in two places at once and get around instantly, next episode's plot wouldn't happen.

This cloning mirror would actually be an adequate explanation for her antics if she already knew about it before hand.

If he only discovers it this episode then she simply is allowed to not make sense.

Maybe it's the source of her powers, and the real plot of the episode is that it breaks and she has no way to dismiss her clones. So they have to have a Tournament Arc to determine who the real Pinkie is.

And there's a scene where Twilight doesn't know which Pinkie to shoot.tongue

I wonder if thee is even going to be a 'real' Pinkie. After all, if the clone has all the memories and personality of the original, there's no reason not to consider the clone to be just as real as the original.

Though I seriously doubt this show would go that deep into Cloning Blues.

Oh man. I didn't even think about that. How is it going to be handled?

The least likely, but potentially most interesting, is if the clones aren't "removed" in any way, and just go off to live where they will.

Of course, the issue will be that if they all have the same personality, none of them will want to have to leave all her friends behind.

wild mass guessThe episode will end with all of Pinkie's clones going off to explore the world togetherwild mass guess

That would be a nice ending. The status quo is kept and no icky moral stuff happens.

Yeah, I would like that. I'd probably get a bad taste from an ending in which the clones are "removed".

I'm personally guessing that the clones are simply imitations rather than complete copies; they likely have a time limit or are imperfect magical constructs rather than actual ponies.

Yeah, I'm excited for the cloning episode, but I'm worried about how they will handle it. Too much chance for there to be some Unfortunate Implications , or for a cop out ending.

There's also the possibility that they aren't actual clones but divisions of the original Pinkie and thus they need to recombine in order for us to have the full Pie.

I personally don't have much faith on the writers to write a good ending, mostly because I simply abhored the last Pinkie-centric episode. I will be amused, that much is sure.
