I really hope we see Star Swirl. Because Twilight is best pony and Twilight thinks that Star Swirl is best pony (barring Celestia of course, but that's a nspecial case) so Star Swirl = best pony squared. It is the undeniable truth and has nothing whatsoever to do with me writing fanfics about his descendent.

@ Sereg, well like we've said, that book Luna pulled out had a clear Star and Swirl design on the cover. Plus there is some hints from one of the ponles the writers did a few weeks before the premeir (The one where they first showed the clip of the Mane 6 trying to get information from the crystal ponies) that they were going to do something with Starswirl the Bearded this season, AND some backstory on the Sisters, AND more Discord.

I always found it funny how Star Swirl went from an obscure scholar, to (apparently) being pony!Merlin. I doubt that Twilight will turn out to be his descendant, but I wouldn't be surprised if they brought him up again.

@Mio: The odds of Star Swirl being mentioned again by somepony else besides Twi are fair, since Luna recognized Twi's Nightmare Night outfit in a way that suggests that she knew the guy personally.

It hasn't come up yet, but in my fanfic series, Twilight is one of Star Swirl the Bearded's descendents, just not down the direct Swirl line like Star Swirl the Hundred and Forty Seventh is.
