I'd actually bet that her use of the dark magic is going to become a plot point later on. If you take a look at the door scene again, you can actually see her magic darken throughout the scene as she gets more and more frustrated with the door before she snaps and lashes out at it. It definitely seems like a "give in to your anger" type of magic.

Maybe Discord is the Morgoth figure. Sombra was his apprentice. Celestia and Luna took him out as part of the post-Discord cleanup effort.
And yeah, there are a lot of little details in the episode that I didn't pick up on first watch. I really need to find time to rewatch the entire thing.
Also, against all odds, I have to say that Lord Niggertron actually has some pretty good points about the episodes.

@J Teeth: Discord doesn't seem like the kind of person that would take apprentices. Cuts to much into "chaos time". Plus, Sombra seems more Lawful Evil compared to Discord's Chaotic Evil.

Trying to overcome it with shadow magic was the trap, though, preying on the "well it worked the first time" mentality. She had to use... something else. Whatever that other magic was will probably be elaborated upon later as well if the dark magic is brought up again.

Huh, that's quite interesting. And yeah, Sombra really did plan this out pretty well. Maybe he enchanted the door like that to make whoever tries to open it more susceptible to the illusion.
