I'd actually bet that her use of the dark magic is going to become a plot point later on. If you take a look at the door scene again, you can actually see her magic darken throughout the scene as she gets more and more frustrated with the door before she snaps and lashes out at it. It definitely seems like a "give in to your anger" type of magic.
