I must to say that episode growing on me (that I start to love more, and maybe soon it will be my favorite episode).
Unlike Wedding eps (mostly second part), what had huge impact on me from first viewing (it's because I didn't expect to be that epic).
Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.
And Windegos were hatred/intolerance. Nice theming!

Interesting theory.
But Sombra was more element of cruelty than Discord.
Because he know I'm going to go out in this plane and I'm going to remove one of His creations from His universe.
Well, as far as villains are concerned, the first was effectively insane, the second ws batshit insane and the third only lost due to a deus ex machina.
Deus Ex Machina?
Is it a deus ex machina for the power of love to defeat the villain when it's established
through the same villain that the power of love can be used as a massively powerful source of magic and energy?

I have a message from another time...
I don't think Sombra seemed to run on hate... if anything he ran on fear/sorrow. The black magic seemed to be a dampener - everything around it looked darker, but not more hateful Gray, not red, basically.
I don't think he ran on sorrow, just that he caused it.

Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
Yeah, he's an "ordinary" unicorn, not a force of nature like the Wendigos or an alien presence like the Changelings. However, he certainly cemented his rule through the use of fear and sorrow. He had to have been quite cruel and hated for him to be sure nobody would dare enter his throne room.

Well he was an ordinary unicorn. Now he's a shadowy smoke monster unicorn.

he didn't lose because he got cocky and just stood there/wouldn't shut up.
Pretty much.
Really, I give Sombra A+ for effort.

No heroes, no villains, only people.
Indeed, Sombra is practically a fridge villain. At first I wasn't really impressed, but the more you think about how he worked, the more formidable he seems.
Quite. Even when he broke his horn off on the barrier, he still took the iniiative to use it to spread a corruption inside the barrier, and then grew it back
anyway.
So, why did he lose his shadow form at the end, there?

Pure determination and/or being near the Crystal Heart.

More dramatic that way? Maybe he was regaining his power or something.
You know, I would like to see the mane cast defeating a major villain with their own power; not with the Elements, just their own magical, intellectual, and physical power.
No heroes, no villains, only people.
Does that Ursa Minor count?

I see what you did there.
No heroes, no villains, only people.
Well he was an ordinary unicorn. Now he's a shadowy smoke monster unicorn.
He's a smoke cloud with a stairs fetish.
