Actually... with Applejack shunting her out of heart distraction duties, Pinkie being a jester, Rarity going full-auto on hat-weaving, there really was nobody but Fluttershy for a jousting partner.
I mean, the petting-zoo is kinda self-sustaining.
And it was Applejack's idea to have Rainbow joust...

I have a message from another time...
@Mousa: Even she reverts a bit. If she had really learned her lesson from "Applebuck Season", "The Last Roundup" wouldn't have happened, she'd have just realized that it would be okay to accept her friends' help in getting the money and left it at that.
yeah other ones work fine it's just that one, I get like half a seoncd of the laod screen then the whole thing goes black

But if she didn't learn her lesson from Applebuck season Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 would have ended way way differently.

The Last Roundup reinforced the lesson between Applebuck and Squeezy.
However, I think that The Last Roundup was more about Applejack's almost crippling dedication to honor and integrity, so losing was less about her not being able to do something, but more about her not being able to do something that she
promised she would. She percieved it as letting down everyone, and failing to bring back the money she promised them.

So sometimes she remembers, and sometimes she doesn't. It happens. Just because you learn a lesson once doesn't mean you'll get it right every time after that.
Right, I'm getting dinner atm...my live watch begins soon!

Ask The Mane Six
Pointless nitpicking time: isn't the Crystal
Empire kinda small to count, well, as an empire? I mean, the population was so little that the Mane 6 managed to singlehandedly organize, in record time, a fair for all inhabitants — that would be completely impossible even for a small-sized city, let alone for a nation or an empire...

But they seem to
know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.
My guess is that the whole Sombra thing kinda kept it small. Either that or a thousand years ago it would have qualified, but by modern standards it's tiny. Another thing is that Empire implies conquering. Maybe when Celestia and Luna overthrew Sombra he lost all the areas he had conquered and only the capital is left.
Yeah, I assumed it was the capital city of what had once been an empire.
That would be running a punchline into the ground.

Ooh, I like this explanation. Thanks!

Missed the premier, but the episodes are on youtube.
Don't make me fire Pinky's party cannon.
It WAS the Crystal Kingdom, but it's name got changed to Empire when Sombra took over.

Does anyone else here remember the previous time Gak was cool?
I've never heard of it.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
Me neither. The meme that has grown around it is marginally funny, I think — mostly, I'm amazed at the rapidity with which it developed — but I hope it won't be too long-lived. I could see it getting old fast.

Is it just me or are the clopping sounds enhanced from last season?

Gak is a really inane meme.
No heroes, no villains, only people.

The song even says that there was a Crystal
Kingdom anthem.

Gak is an onomatapeia for reactions to dumb memes.
