I really liked the songs of this one, for some reason.

I didn't like any of the songs.

Well they can't all be This Day Aria I guess.

Plenty of awesome AND funny AND heartwarming though

Fastball special Princess, Gravity Flip, Spike saving the day

AJ being best distraction, Rarities reactions, the whole library scene.

Though RD....damnit RD stop being so dense
Build a fool proof system, and the world will create a better fool. My random thoughts

Any theories about that pony in Celestia's throne room in the opening scene? The one who left as soon as the guard arrived with the news for Celly?
That would be running a punchline into the ground.

Hey, what do you think about the new pony racing RD in the preview?
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

Yeah, RD did nothing but cause trouble this episode. Then again, so did Pinkie and Rarity. Fluttershy just did nothing. It was pretty much AJ holding down the event.

@Story: Can't really say much based on that preview. I'm more curious about the filly ponies and the real-horse looking things.

@Blue: I don't think Rarity was totally useless; she was doing a decent job of distracting the crystal ponies. RD was pretty dense though.

Somewhere, some place, in a Wales town house, Ginger is weeping for a lack of good villains in his life :O

I didn't even notice... what did they look like?

Maybe Sombra's style of magic is The Corruption and so it's not healthy to use it too much.

I'm glad for Sweetie though, since she gets something out of the preview,

Just immagine how much Gingerrage we'd be getting now.

But AJ was the only pony holding things together!

He's handling it alright, actually. He's asking more about Sombra. He is curious. XD

Well, Rarity did distract the crystal ponies with her mad basketweaving skills.

But they seem to know where they are going, the ones who walk away from Omelas.

I don't see why a lack of focus on the other ponies was a problem. It was clearly established as Twilight's episode(s) from the start, and Spike even managed to get a lot of focus and save the day in the second part.

Also, Pinkie in a Fluttershy suit is the one of the greatest gags this show has ever produced.

I imagine Ginger would be livid at the lyric "Since when does Twilight Sparkle ever fail?"

Spike having his own crystal moral is easily the best part of this episode!

You know who the true villain was?

The beach ball that knocked over the fake heart. It had a plan. It had a plan.

@Perpetual: It's not that they didn't get screentime, it's that they didn't really do much that was plot relevant. It was basically an entirely Twilight-centric episode that sometimes went "Oh right, we need to cut back to the rest of the cast". The focus on her isn't bad, it's just that it could have been don't more smoothly.

And yes, the Pinkie in a Fluttershy Suit gag is probably a CMOF for the entire show.
