I flip flop between rarity and applejack as best ponies.

mostly because they define my own personality best.

I always found applejack to be kinda forgettable. I'm not really sure why, it just feels to me like she doesn't do as much as the rest. Same with Pinkie Pie, really. Hm...the two earth ponies are the only one's I don't like...I feel vaguely racist, somehow.

And speaking of honesty I was thinking of the elements of Harmony. Seeing as this is MLP, you could say that everypony is honest, kind, generous, happy and loyal...and they all possess a certain magic. So i was trying to figure out why each pony got what they got and it occurred to me:

Applejack got honesty because, while both Dash and Pinkie are also honest, it would never occur to Applejack to lie.

Fluttershy got kindness because, while Sparkle and Rarity are also kind, Fluttershy is kind without hesitation.

Waht do you think? am i on to something?

I would say that Rainbow Dash being "Loyalty" is something of her saving grace. She may be rude and snarky, but she will put up with them to the very end.

To be honest, I can't really say I have a "favorite pony." They're all just so huggable!

By the way, I had a conversation with one of my IRL female friends about this show. She hadn't seen it, and asked me to name off the main characters.

So I said "well, Applejack is the only returning character from the original show. The others are Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Twilight Sparkle—"

Suddenly she laughed.

I asked what was so funny.

She said the name "Twilight Sparkle" makes her think of vampires.

(No pot hole because I'm pretty sure you can see what she was getting at).

Sooooooooooo this episode quite honestly felt to me like I was watching a run-of-the-mill show for girls with a couple good jokes. The writing seemed really forced at times, a lot of it was cheesy (Ending on a wink? Seriously?), and... did Twilight just say "OMG"? Ruined forever!

So yeah, didn't like it much. Though, Spike was super-adorable especially at the beginning, and there were some good jokes, like the owl turning its head towards Spike when they first meet, or "Quills and Sofas"... And Spike was adorable, it deserves to be repeated.

I would honestly put this one down as the worst episode so far.

The fact that it was still pretty good says something about the show.

It was good, just the way it all fit together felt off definitely.

I have to say though, I can't believe they would show that much level of pure GORE on a children's show.

It's honestly just horrifying.

Spike was awesome and adorable as always (and needed a hug when he was tearing up) but the bird was irritating and Twilight was kinda off. I can't put my finger on it, she just felt pretty oblivious.

Somehow after seeing a bunch of pony customs, both G1 and G4, I really don't see that as a huge problem. Here's a someone's customized ponies. Apparently, all you need is a pair of scissors and hair spray to make that custom Twilight.
