Yeah, we don't really see her doing much governing except for in that clip in the beginning of the premiere where she's signing all of those papers. Mostly it's just her making public appearances.

@JT: I reckon Celestia lets the government get on with things without interfering in their duties, but she will carefully give the course of things a gentle nudge in the right direction.

Personally I think that outright hatecrimes can be a major punishable offence under modern Equestrian law because Celestia puts her hoof down on seriously disharmonius activites that could weaken Discord's seal again or make things inviting for Windigos.

@Mio: True, the Pegasus Military probably merged fully with the Sun Court guards.

There's probably some higher court appointed by Celestia herself, although she still has the final authority if a verdict should be brought to her judgement. There's probably also some personal advisors in the event that a unilateral decision would cause a conflict of interest (for instance, what would become of Luna).

I don't think you can weaken Discord's seal by any other method except by messing with the Elements of Harmony. I do wonder if there are anymore Windigos though. Maybe they are actually a myth as part of Lies to Children type thing for the real events? Or maybe they are extinct.

Maybe windigoes (and most other sorts of Emotion Eater) all sorta died out a long time ago. I mean, no one expected a Changeling siege— perhaps because there was no reason to believe they were still around?

In fact, years in the future, but not many, Cloudsdale decides to secede from Equestria entirely. Realising that this will result in no weather changes and the eventual desertification of Equestria, Celestia gives one ultimatum - Surrender, or have Cloudsdale destroyed and all Pegasi forced into slavery.

Cloudsdale takes a third option and wires the Rainbow factory to self destruct in the event of Cloudsdale's defeat, showering the whole planet with Rainbow Radiation, before armouring their military in Rainrad Resistance Armour. The Cloudsdale Militia launches an attack on Canterlot, while the main force attacks Manehattan. Celestia and Luna attempt to use the Elements, but due to the armour on the pegasi units, it fails.

Celestia creates a new weapon, the Anti-Army Mechanical Armour Frame.

The Mane Six are selected as pilots, although Fluttershy deserts and takes her frame to griffon territory, where she spends the rest of her life as a mercenary, and Rainbow Dash defects and joins the Cloudsdale forces because she decides she simply cannot beat her own species into submission, and the rest start to constantly question their orders, and even outright defy them at points.

And that is Season Four.

It's still weird how changelings eat a positive emotion. I honestly don't think I've ever seen that before.

The closest thing I can think of is Black Mage's Love-Powered Hadoken from 8-Bit Theater. Love Powered in the sense that every time he uses it he siphons love out of the universe.

Eating positive emotions is nothing new, many villains in magical girl shows do that all the time lol.

Seriously if any fic qualifiers as "grimdark" it's that one, every chapter was some other pony just showing up to have some huge life destroying issue, Applebloom was so sick she was close to death, Lyra..terminal cancer, Vinyl..gives this long rant on how "music companies" suck the soul out of music and why she isn't a 'sellout', and the end point the point where I just said fuck it NO! and stopped reading...RD loses a wing.

Fucking hell, and that's just the one shots in the fic, the main story is just how Octavia's life goes from bad to worse to what the fuck are you doing? At least Cupcakes and Rainbow Factory admitted they were dark ass stories that just wanted to cause pain, this, tries to hide it under a bunch of bullshit, pseudo-intellectual bullshit and damn that fic is just horrible

And keep in mind, I'm anomaly the one that defends everything.
