@CDRW: Yeah, that's a big part of it as well. It's like, you look at what you
could do with it (making games, scripts for browsing, etc.) and you're all like "that's awesome!" Then you realize how much trouble you'll have to go through to get to that point and figure it isn't worth it. It always sucks when there's such a hump to get over right at the start of something like that. Heck, the only reason I'm not trying to teach myself how to play the drums is because a decent set costs a couple hundred dollars.
As for the puzzle thing...yeah, it basically comes down to not finding that fun. When the program doesn't do what I want it to I'm
far more likely to just get frustrated if I can't find the problem within the first couple minutes.
On the other hand, trying to resolve a plot hole in a story can easily keep me occupied for hours.
